Today, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series unloads at Kansas Speedway. The field waits on the pit lane ahead of the green in the cutoff race of the NASCAR Playoffs.

Kansas Race
Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 80 (1-80)

Green flag, Hemric leads as they fan out three and four wide in a hurry.

Brad Keselowski has a look for the lead. Larson is coming, he moves to the lead.

Pit cycle

Lap 48, the pit cycle is underway. Kyle Larson remains on the track. Only five cars are on the lead lap as Larson has yet to pit. He finally heads to the pit lane. He stalls exiting the pit box.

Lap 59, Denny Hamlin pits from the lead. It’s a two tire call for him. He re-enters the track in 11th. Kyle Larson cycles back to the lead.

6 to go in stage one, Ryan Newman moves up the banking and into Ricky Stenhouse Jr, both cars are in the wall. There’s debris on track as Newman has a flat. The caution is out.

Kyle Larson leads most of the field to the pit lane. Kyle Busch wins the race to the pit exit. Blaney, Bowyer, Logano and Stenhouse stay out.

It’s a two lap shootout. Green, Bowyer noses ahead on the bottom. Logano looks to the outside. Suarez moves below the apron down the back stretch. They run 5 wide for the lead into turn three!

The field splits Bowyer as he falls through the field in a hurry. Kyle Busch comes up the track and makes light contact with the left front of Bowyer. Elliott is pushing Logano on the outside, Logano is clear into turn three.

Joey Logano wins stage one at Kansas Speedway!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 80 (81-160)

The rest of the field heads to the pit lane. Ryan Blaney is the first car off the pit lane. Blaney will restart 14th as many stay out. Chase Elliott leads them to the restart.

Green flag on stage two, Keselowski gives a push to Elliott on the outside. Truex gives a push to Suarez on the inside. Suarez comes out of turn two with the lead on the bottom.

Lap 93, Martin Truex Jr has run down the leader. He has a run off turn two and drives by on the bottom with ease.

Lap 115, the lap car of Joey Gase is running the top. Larson is coming with a full head of steam and has to check up. Larson then puts the throttle down, drives into his bumper and turns him around. The caution is out.

Pit stops

Martin Truex Jr is first in and first off as the field enters and exits the pit lane.

Kyle Busch has a stuck throttle. He returns to the pit lane for the crew to fix it.

Green, Truex is clear on the bottom with a push from Denny Hamlin. They run three and four wide behind them.

Lap 124, Hamlin has a run off turn four. Truex hangs on his outside as Hamlin works to the bottom in turn one. They remain side by side in turn three. Hamlin side drafts him into the corner and he works clear.

10 to go in stage two, Hamlin leads Ryan Blaney by 1.5 seconds.

Hamlin slows down with one to go, he’s letting Jimmie Johnson get his lap back. Denny Hamlin cruises to the stage two win at Kansas Speedway!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 107 (161-267)

The field heads to the pit lane. Hamlin is first in and first off.

Green flag on the final stage, Hamlin gets a huge push from Truex and Kyle Busch on the bottom lane. Hamlin lanes into turn one.

Lap 171, Ryan Blaney side drafts Martin Truex into turn three. He dives to the bottom late and Blaney is clear for 2nd off turn four.

60 to go, Denny Hamlin leads Kyle Busch by 2.5 seconds.

Pit cycle

53 to go, Kevin Harvick heads to the pit lane. 52 to go, Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr and William Byron hit the pits. 51 to go, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Chase Elliott pit. 50 to go, Kyle Busch pits from 2nd with Ryan Blaney in tow. 49 to go, Denny Hamlin pits from the race lead.

Penalty: Aric Almirola has been hit with an uncontrolled tire penalty.

43 to go, Alex Bowman, Daniel Hemric and Ricky Stenhouse Jr remain on the track. Bowman finally pits.

41 to go, Denny Hamlin cycles back to the lead. Kyle Busch trails by 0.6 seconds. Hamlin puts Brad Keselowski and Alex Bowman a lap down.

15 to go

15 to go, Ryan Blaney is sideways with a flat tire! Debris is all over the track and the caution is out!

Denny Hamlin leads the field to the pit lane he’s off first with a two tire call. Hamlin, Larson, Johnson and Kurt Busch all take two tires.

Green, Hamlin and Larson are even at the line. Larson noses ahead into turn one. Hamlin side drafts him off turn two and they run even into turn three.

Kyle Busch pulls behind Hamlin on the bottom. Denny Hamlin is clear of Kyle Larson. Larson brushes the wall off turn four and Erik Jones gets into the back of him, they save it.

5 to go, Chase Elliott is running 3rd with four new tires. He dives to the inside of Kyle Busch and takes 2nd away.

4 to go, Chase Elliott is on the bumper of Denny Hamlin for the lead! Bubba Wallace loses a left rear wheel at 175mph off turn two! He spins and Matt Tifft is collected.

Overtime

Brad Keselowski is in a battle with Chase Elliott for the final transfer spot in the NASCAR Playoffs. Keselowski and others pit for tires and tape.

It’s going to be a green, white, checkered finish.

Green flag, Kyle Busch is all over the bumper of Denny Hamlin with a push into turn one. They are both clear of Chase Elliott.

Denny Hamlin comes to the white flag. They’re crashing behind them! Joey Logano is involved. Suarez got into Keselowski as they ran four wide. Logano was then forced to the grass. The caution is back out.

Overtime Two

Denny Hamlin gets the jump and he’s clear before turn one. Kyle Busch and Chase Elliott run side by side for 2nd.

Final lap, Hamlin leads but Elliott is on his bumper. They both run the bottom in turn one.
