Make it Two for O’Neal at USA’s Wild West Shootout!
Don O’Neal evened the score in the win column via 2016 Wild West Shootout Night 4 Results after racing to victory lane. The second time in four rounds of USA Raceway’s Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout presented by Black Diamond-Club 29 Race Cars.
With his second $5,000 Super Late Model triumph of the mini-series atop the 3/8-mile clay oval, O’Neal matched Jonathan Davenport’s two wins with both drivers still eligible for a $50,000 bonus if either can top each of the final two rounds on Saturday and Sunday.
While “The Real Deal” bested the Super Late Model ranks, Ryan Gustin topped the Modifieds for the second time in a row while Grant Southworth took X Mod honors.
Davenport pressured O’Neal throughout the Super Late Model main event, even nosing underneath on the 28th round only to have O’Neal surge back ahead and race on to the checkered flag.
Brandon Sheppard chased the lead duo to the stripe with Steve Francis and A.J. Diemel rounding out the top five.
Missouri’s Ryan Gustin raced from fourth to snare his second Modified win in a row ahead of Matt Leer and pole starter Brad Dierks with Wisconsin’s Grant Southworth going from fourth as well to capture the X Mod checkered flag in front of Brandon Farrington and Chad Olsen.
The Wild West Shootout continues at USA Raceway on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. before wrapping up on Sunday at the same time.
A $5,000 winner’s share is up for grabs through the opening five nights of competition with AR Bodies raising the stakes of the January 17 finale to $11,000-to-win.
Single day tickets are just $20 for each of the first five nights and $22 for the Wild West Shootout finale on Sunday, January 17.
