Kevin Harvick NASCAR K&N Pro Series Return Announced

Moments ago a Kevin Harvick NASCAR K&N Pro Series event was added to his 2017 racing plans

Unfortunately, the Kevin Harvick NASCAR K&N Pro Series date isn’t a short track race. In fact, it couldn’t be further from a short track. He will race the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West event on June 24th, 2017. That weekend the tour will run at Sonoma Raceway. A 1.99 mile road course.

Kevin Harvick broke the news moments ago via his radio show. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver hosts a weekly radio problem on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. “I guess it’s been 19 years since I ran the Winston West race in Sonoma. I won the race 19 years ago. 19 years late, I’m going to run the K&N West Series race again for Jefferson Pitts Racing.”

The NASCAR Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver explained the reasoning for the added grassroots racing date. Stating, “It’s something that I’d wanted to do more of. Sonoma was really the first opportunity to go out and really just have fun and get some more laps. Go to a racetrack that I’ve been racing at since the mid-90’s.”

He’s tired of sitting around at Sonoma. He explained, “Honestly, I got tired of sitting around for two days. We go in on Saturday and usually all we do is qualify. Then you’re like, alright what am I going to do for the rest of the day. So, I sit around and watch this race. I told Delana, I’m just going to race this race this year. Just because I’m tired of sitting around and watching.”

Continuing, “There’s a lot of competitors and friends that still run in the K&N West Series. So we’re going to see if we cant have some fun and go win a race.”

“It’s the same thing that many of the young kids are running. We’re gunna be the old guy that shows up. It’s a series that gave me several breaks and serveral opportunities to showcase what I dis as a kid.”

Kevin Harvick talked about racing of the past. “When I was coming up through the ranks, there were ranks! A definite ladder system.”

Things have changed. He continued, “Now, it’s much different. There’s a lot less steps in the ladder and the steps are a lot further apart. It’s hard for young kids. We’re gunna go bring the West Series some exposure. That’s my main goal.”

In 1998, Kevin Harvick had a busy racing schedule. He drove the Spears truck full-time while also competing full-time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. His commitment to his racing career paid off. That year he won five races en route to the K&N West Series championship.

In total, Kevin Harvick has entered twenty-two NASCAR K&N Pro Series West events. He’s won six of those and finished in the top 10, sixteen times. He’s also run three NASCAR K&N Pro Series East events. Where he finished in the top ten, twice.
