Kenny Wallace Hit a Tree Leaving Spoon River Speedway

Kenny Wallace hauler incident leaving Spoon River Speedway

Kenny Wallace took his modified over to Spoon River Speedway tonight. It’s a 3/8 mile dirt oval, nested in the woods of Spoon River, IL.

The event was the MARS / ALMS late model show, paying $5000 to the winner. Dirt modifieds were the support class.

Chasing setup bugs, the Kenny Wallace team got it all worked out tonight. After Qualifying toward the back of the field, Kenny Wallace drove through the field to finish 8th.

A great run for the former NASCAR driver turned short track, dirt trackin’ “redneck”. Don’t get mad at me, his own words. Besides, I’m a redneck too, from the other side of St. Louis.

After the race Kenny Wallace tweeted, “20th to 8th tonight. I am eXcited.”

However, upon leaving the racetrack, the highs turned to lows. Kenny Wallace hit a tree. Well, technically… A tree fell, in the middle of the road. Breaking it’s fall, was the hauler carrying the #36 dirt modified.

Kenny Wallace talks about the situation, on you guessed it… Twitter. He explained, “What a crazy moment for us. @21BMJ and other race teams just passed that spot and the tree started falling as we approached.”

The Illinois police remove the tree. On twitter, again, “Thank you to the Saint Petersburg Illinois police and Illinois state troopers and DOT. Got us going again.”

Kenny Wallace can now head to the next dirt track, where he doesn’t know what the payout is. Because, he’s doing it for fun and because he’s a “redneck” from Arnold, Missouri. Again… his words.

He even had a smile with the police officers. Kenny Wallace is the only one on Earth that can have a good time with a tree falling on top of you.

I’ve said it many times… Nobody has more fun in life than our own Kenny Wallace.
