Today, Matt Yocum of Fox Sports caught up with Kyle Busch to reflect on last week. From the Dover International Speedway garage, Kyle Busch was asked if he would do anything different?
Kyle Busch responded, “Everything just kinda escalated from pit road and me continuing to think about it. And think about the chance that we had to win the Coca-Cola 600.
“Being one of the four marquee events that we have in the year. Daytona 500, Coke 600, Brickyard 400 and then of course Darlington, the Southern 500.”
“That would have knocked off three of those four for me. We were so close, we had such a fast car. All the guys did such an awesome job all weekend long.”
“We also were going for the sweep of the All-Star race and the 600. And so, all those things kinda set in.”
“Once it set in, it was like man! Finally, it just kinda blew up.”
Kyle Busch concluded, “Overall, our guys are working really hard. They deserve to win, they deserve better. I’m just sad that we weren’t able to get it done for them last weekend.”
The consensus: No it doesn’t sound like he would have handled anything different. Those were just raw emotions boiling over just moments after a 600 mile race.
