He unloaded that same car last night at Tri-City Speedway. The team prepped it throughout the day then took it on track for hot laps.
Following hot laps, the car was pushed to the side. The team pulled out the backup and began prepping it in a rush, just ahead of qualifying.
But why exactly?
Bobby Pierce stated, “We ran that one at Spoon River. During the feature my dad just thought it sounded kinda funny.”
“We looked it over after the race, found some holes in the header on the right side. Figured that could have been it. We patched those up.”
“We started it at Tri-City Speedway, it sounded like something was wrong.”
“I’m everything’s probably alright. We just didn’t want to take a chance.”
“We just decided to unload the other car. You don’t want to take a chance on the Summer Nationals when we’re running for points.”
Bobby Pierce was the DIRTcar Summer Nationals point leader heading into Tri-City Speedway last night. With the backup car, he finished 5th. That result extended his points lead, as he finished ahead of Billy Moyer Jr.
The point lead was maintained. This tour is a grind, preventive thinking like this to save the equipment, is what brings championships.
