Daytona International Speedway bomb threat – Speedway swept by authorities

An anonymous caller made a Daytona bomb threat yesterday in Daytona Beach, FL.

In a statement issued by the Daytona Beach police, “On Thursday afternoon, June 29, 2017, a call was received at the front desk of the Daytona Beach Police Department regarding a bomb threat at the Speedway.”

The caller said multiple devices were were placed on the Daytona International Speedway property, 1801 W. International Speedway Blvd. Furthermore, the caller insisted the bombs were set to go off in 30 minutes.

Craig Capri spent 27 years as a Daytona Beach police officer. In January 2017, he was promoted to Chief of Police in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Craig Capri, the Chief of Police in Daytona stated, “No detonations took place 30 minutes after the call.”

Police spokeswoman Lyda Longa spoke on the search, “The search of the premises took an hour and nothing was found.”

Police obtained a phone number from the anonymous caller. Daytona police and other detectives are working to identify and locate the Daytona bomb threat caller.

A press released issued by polices states, “This is an active, ongoing investigation.”

Despite the bomb threat, on track NASCAR action yesterday at Daytona International Speedway. Today’s action is scheduled without interruptions as well

Today, the NASCAR Xfinity Series as well as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series take to the SuperSpeedway for qualifying. Tonight is race night, Daytona International Speedway hosts the NASCAR Xfinity Series for the Coca-Cola Firecracker 250.
