Heat 1
A few trucks try the bottom early. There’s no water down there. The track is top dominant at the moment.

Stewart Friesen drives to the win.

Heat 2
3 wide into turn 1. The top prevails. Chase Briscoe holds the lead out of turn 2.

Some racing in this one, 3 wide for the transfer spot.

At the front Matt Crafton has chased down the leader. He’s on his bumper, Crafton to the bottom. That doesn’t work. A bumper in turn 3. It’s works! A bump and run on the dirt. Ben Rhodes slips by as well. Matt Crafton wins!

Heat 3
Kaz Grala and Ryan Truex line up on row 1. Green. Truex nearly makes the bottom work. Instead, he slots into 2nd. He pinches Haley against the wall to take it place in line at the top of the track.

Kaz Grala is gone. He wins heat 3

Dillon isn’t done. He pulls up to the back bumper of Gragson in the middle of turns 1-2. Once he gets there, he turns it to the bottom on exit. A slide job in turn 3 completes the pass. Crossover by Gragson but now Dillon has the high side. The fastest truck, in the preferred groove.

Ty Dillon wins heat 5.

Track Prep
Prep is underway ahead of the LCQ.

LCQ
Coughlin and Harmin line up on row 1. Top 2 transfer. Harmin dives to the bottom, he gets swarmed. Harmin is running 3rd of 4th at the end of lap 1.

Bobby Pierce started at the tail for un-approved adjustments. The team had damage to fix. Pierce has found the top. He’s glued to the wall and aiming at the front of the field. Lap 7, Pierce is up to 2nd.

Coughlin was driving away. No longer, Pierce is all over his rear bumper. Pierce to the bottom in 3-4, that doesn’t work. To the bottom in 1-2, that doesn’t work. 5 to go.

Coughlin pinches down on the exit of turn 2. The top is open, Pierce punches the gas and fills the gap between Coughlin and the wall. Pierce to the lead.

Bobby Pierce wins the LCQ!

Eldora Speedway 4 Wide Salute - NASCAR Truck Series Results

Main Event
National anthem, marching band. The NASCAR Camping World Trucks role off the pit lane at Eldora. 4 wide salute, fireworks. We’re ready to go! Stage 1 is 40 laps. Stage 2 is 50 laps and the final stage is 60 laps, for 150 total laps. Stewart Friesen and Matt Crafton lead the field to the line. Bobby Pierce will start at the tail, last row.

Green flag, Stewart Friesen leads lap 1. 3-4 wide throughout the field. Mud covers the wind screens of most trucks, the water truck went out ahead of the feature. Some are shifting as the pace slows in traffic.

Lap 5, Bobby Pierce has come to a stop on track. JJ Yaley spun on his own ahead. Pierce jumped on the brakes, Chris Windom doesn’t check up as quick. He sends Bobby for a loop. He gets it re-fired but Pierce is now a lap down. Minor damage.

Green, Caleb Holman fails to get going. He heads right to the pits. Friesen resumes as the leader. The bottom is coming in. The water has been worked into the surface instead of resting on top of it. The groove is coming in. At the same time, the top is drying out.

Caution, lap 18. Creed tried to dive from the top to the bottom on entry. Ben Rhodes was there, he sends Creed for a loop. Several get collected and the track is blocked. Johnny Sauter, Bobby Pierce and others have a bit of damage. This will be the competition caution.

Green, Friesen leads. But Matt Crafton is making the bottom work. New leader, Crafton. Friesen gets it back on the high side. Trouble! Christopher Bell spins from 3rd place! Gaz Grala is on the brakes but he T-Bones Bell as he loops it down the banking. Two of the favorites are likely out of this race.

Stage 1 win finish under caution. Matt Crafton wins stage 1. He was determined the leader at the last scoring loop before the yellow.

Green flag on stage 2. Crafton is going backwards in a hurry. He started on the front row, he runs 10th as they complete lap 1.

Caution. Max Johnston, Ben Rhodes are involved. Ben Rhodes, “They should call this the demolition derby. Not the Dirt Derby.”

Chase Briscoe is cleaning the inside of his windshield with a paint roller as they coast under caution.

Green flag. Friesen back to the lead. Christopher Bell is currently running 13th. Major damage but he’s making it work anyway. The field is rolling the bottom.

Caution. Sheldon Creed is backwards again. Lap 27 of 50 in stage 2.

Green flag, Friesen still leads. Crafton makes things interesting. He has the top to himself and he’s happy to go there. He passes 3 trucks in turn 1. Back at the front, Ty Dillon is putting pressure on the leader. Friesen holds the lead as Crafton drops the anchor.

Caution. Lap 44 of 50 in stage 2. Ray Ciccarelli is backwards under the flagstand. Ray was pinching Creed a bit on the exit, they touched, Ciccarelli went around.

1 lap shootout. Green, Ty Dillon gets a horrible restart, he blocks and holds onto 2nd. With a truck torn all to hell, Bell powers around the cushion and into stage points. Stewart Friesen wins stage 2!

Stage 2 Results: 1. Stewart Friesen; 2. Ty Dillon; 3. John Hunter Nemechek; 4. Christopher Bell; 5. Austin Cindric; 6. Grant Enfinger; 7. Justin Shipey; 8. Rico Abreu; 9. Matt Crafton; 10. Justin Haley;

The field hits pit road and the stage 2 winner has a flat right front tire! Lucky break.

Green flag on the final stage. Christopher Bell dives to the bottom, Austin Cindric falls into 2nd. 4 wide for 3rd on back. Ty Dillon gets the rear end loose in the center, he drifts it all the way up the banking to catch it. Dillon looses 3 positions.

Lap 100, Friesen pitted for new tires. He’s already up to 2nd place. Top, bottom or middle. He can pass anywhere.

49 to go, Rico Abreu is in trouble. Flat tire. He hits pit road under green. Abreu has been bouncing his right rear off the wall all night. Quarter panel damage likely cut the tire.

43 to go, Christopher Bell leads but Friesen is large in the rear view mirror. Bell begins changing his line. Defensive. They swap lanes. Bell to the top, Friesen to the bottom.

37 to go, side-by-side for the lead. Friesen makes it work in the middle as Bell bounces off the cushion. Lead change. Friesen has just caught lapped traffic. He takes the lappers 3 wide, no issues.

32 to go. Caution. Ty Dillon has cut a right front tire. He stopped on track, unable to get to pit road. Likely on purpose. Rico Abreu heads to the garage, he’s out.

Bell thinks he has a flat. Green, 25 to go. Indeed, the tire is down on the 2nd place truck. He drops through the field. Caution, spinner. Big break for Bell. Bobby Pierce has surfaced. He started last and was a lap down after a crash in stage 1. He now runs 5th and he’s coming to hand it to the NASCAR field.

19 to go, Friesen leads. Crafton hits the cushion and drives it all the way to the front row. He’s there. Crafton bounces off the cushion, he powers down the banking and has a fender on Friesen at the exit. Friesen can’t clear it to the wall from his lane in the bottom groove, he’s forced to hand over the position. Crafton powers by and to the lead under the flagstand on the outside.

Caution, Ciccarelli is around for about the 4th time tonight.

Just 10 to go, green. Crafton holds the lead. Friesen drives to the bottom, Chase Briscoe drives around him on the outside. Friesen is bouncing off the wall on the back straight away, desperation.

5 to go, Friesen and Briscoe side-by-side. Friesen to the bottom, he slides up on exit. A bump at the flag stand. Briscoe scraps the wall. Crossover in the next corner. Briscoe back to 2nd.

2 to go, Crafton leads by 2 seconds.
