First, the B-Main’s will set the tail of the main event starting grid.

B-Main #1

B-Main #1

Zack Dohm and Kent Robinson set row 1 in the first race of the night. Green, pile up out of turn 2. Boggs, Conley and more involved. They will try it again.

Green, side-by-side for the lead in turn 1. Dohm nearly clears him, not enough. Robinson powers to the outside. Even in two. It takes 3 laps, Dohm eventually clears him out of turn 2.

Victor Lee is coming. He’s around Robinson and chasing down the leader. Lap 7, new battle for the lead.

Lap 12, Dohm has opened it back up again. Most cars run the bottom.

Dohm wins B-Main #1

B-Main #2

Earl Pearson Jr and Eddie Carrier Jr ride behind the pace truck. Carrier Jr takes it to the top. He has the lead out of turn 4.

Mason Zeigler wants to do the same. He gets to the outside of Pearson Jr. The #1 wins the battle on the bottom. Zeigler isn’t done, he comes back. Early on the throttle in turn 1. He clears him in turn 2.

Lap 13. Caution. Rice has stopped on track, flat right rear. Eddie Carrier Jr had a full straight-away lead.

Green, Carrier back to the lead. 1 to go, Dale McDowell is under Earl Pearson Jr for 3rd.

Eddie Carrier Jr wins B-Main #2.

B-Main #3

Michael Chilton and Michael Page on row 1. Page can’t get going. Mechanical issue, the whole outside lane has hit a road block! Lots of bumper tag. Satterlee up to 2nd. Steve Casebolt is from 7th to 3rd in 1 lap. Caution.

Green, Satterlee tries to make the outside work. It doesn’t. Casebolt is up to 2nd. Satterlee stays with it. He’s working it. Back around Casebolt.

Chilton hears him coming, he heads to the top to block. Satterlee tries to pull along side in turns 1-2. He’s not going to get there, he lifts a little, rotates the nose to the bottom and drives down of the banking to the inside. They crossed, Satterlee to the lead.

They cross again. And again. Slider by Satterlee. Finally, Satterlee is clear.

Gregg Satterlee wins B-Main #3.

At some point, Chilton was stuffed in the wall at turn 4. I only caught the tail end of it. He’s mad at Satterlee, he’s also mad at Casebolt. While coasting through the infield after the race, Chilton swerved at Casebolt’s crew. He stopped. Just enough to make them think he might hit them. He was coasting at 2mph. Just short track frustration.

Track Prep

They’ve scrapped the rubber off the top. They also put the water truck to the top groove as well.

Main Event

Scott Bloomquist and Jimmy Owens lead the field to green in the 100 lapper main Event. Owens gets a jump. Josh Richards thinks about taking the inside line away in turn 1, he lifts.

McCreadie takes it to the top. He nearly gets alongside Bloomquist at the exit, not quite.

Owens begins opening a gap. A 1/2 car length per lap.

Owens has caught lapped traffic. He pushes Steve Francis down the front straight, just to let him know he’s there. The message wasn’t received because Francis is fighting side by side with Boom Briggs. Owens splits them. Through the middle.

But Bloomquist is there. He looks to the inside. Lap 20, new leader, Bloomquist.

Now Bloomquist is in lapped traffic. Owens is closing. Owens rides the middle in 1-2. He’s got a nose on him, 8 more feet to get passed him.

Lap 34, Satterlee is inside Zeigler in turn 3. Just in front of the leaders. Zeigler comes down and Satterlee doesn’t lift. Wheel to wheel contact. Zeigler jumps up and does a 360 up the banking. Bloomquist is hard on the brakes. He nearly gets collected. Caution.

Lap 50, Bobby Pierce is looking strong. He started 6th. He’s now fighting with McCreadie for 3rd. They are both running the high line. Nobody in the field is running higher than Pierce though. Pierce catches the cushion at the entry. Most are drifting up to it. Pierce is on the gas way earlier. He just needs a fender on McCreadie to take the line away.

Lap 55, Pierce still can’t find a way by. But Overton has caught them both and he’s running the bottom. Open track. He slides Pierce for 4th. Now he looking under McCreadie. Overton started 11th.

Lap 63, caution. Green, McCreadie is around Owens in turn 1. Move him to 2nd. Bloomquist opens up a 4 car length lead. Scott James knocked down the wall in turn 3. He gathers it and continues, no caution, no spoiler. He pulls in.

Lap 77, for the first time all race, Pierce went to the bottom. He ran high in 1-2, cut under Owens down the back and slid him in turn 3. Pierce to 3rd.

Lap 90, Pierce and McCreadie now run the exact same line against the wall. McCreadie has adopted the Pierce line. They are now both running down Bloomquist. The #0 is running the middle to upper middle.

3 laps to go, McCreadie is there! He takes it to the top in turn 1. A big run. He looks to stick it between Bloomquist and the wall on the exit. Bloomquist slides up and takes the lane away. Possibly a bit of contact, barely clear if not. McCreadie stabs the brakes and turns it to the bottom.

He’s pulls to the inside of Bloomquist down the back. A slide job in turn 3! Bloomquist crosses under him at the exit of turn 4. They make more contact.

Bloomquist lifts. Bobby Pierce splits the middle in turns 1-2. He takes 2nd away and he’s looking for the lead. McCreadie holds him off.

Tim McCreadie drives to win the 2017 North/South 100! I love this shit!

Donuts in turn 2. Donuts in turn 4. Tim McCreadie heads to victory lane to collect his $50,000 check.

It was the first time this season that Tim McCreadie had his whole family at the races. They picked a good one.

Tim McCreadie talks to his son 4792
Tim McCreadie’s son is the first one to the car. Greeting his father in victory lane at Florence Speedway!

McCreadie: “Thanks to Sweeteners Plus and Longhorn Chassis this makes perfect sense. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would turn out like this. Thanks to everybody at the shop, also a big thanks to Pro Power Racing Engines and Penske Racing Shocks. I was a little free early on, but as the track burned off we got better. I was tighter through the center than I would have liked. I am bullheaded sometimes, but I put my faith in my guys tonight and it paid off.”

Bobby Pierce: “Congrats to McCreadie on the win. That is what you call racing. A few months ago at the Show-Me I I kind of rubbed him a little bit. He wasn’t happy about that. Tonight we were duking it out and we kind of came up through the field like teammates there, it’s like we were drafting of each other. Last year there was a lot of cushion to use as compared to this year, so it made it a little tougher.”

Scott Bloomquist: “We didn’t realize they were that high and I didn’t think there much up there to work with. I didn’t really get a signal to where they were at on the track. I had no way of knowing. We kind of stayed right in the middle and was pacing ourselves.”

Next weekend, the national late model tour heads the Batesville, AR. They land at Batesville Motor Speedway to do battle for a $40,000 to win show. The weekend gets going on August 17th and completes on August 19th.
