3 dead after shooting at racing event

Shooting at Great Lakes Dragaway

The 1/4 mile dragstrip is located in Union Grove, WI. Last night, it hosted “Larry’s Fun Fest” one of the more popular events at the complex. 5,000 fans were estimated to be in attendance.

The shooting began at the concession stand of the track. Two died at the scene. The 3 victim died just a few hours ago at the hospital.

Two victims were from Aurora, IL. The 3rd was also from Illinois.

Police received the call on August 13, 2017 at 7PM.

As of this morning, the Police were in search of a man in a black vehicle. They are still unsure who they’re looking for.

“They have no idea what happened, what caused this,” the sheriff said after getting a statement from friends of the victims.

“This is pretty distressing. It’s a beautiful sunny night. There’s a lot of families out, there’s a lot of families in here. I can see several children in here. ” said Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth.

The department is encouraging people to come forward.

“A lot of people may not have wanted to come up and talk to the sheriff’s department initially because maybe they were afraid someone was going to see them,” Beth said.

Mr. Beth continued, “So what I’m hoping happens is someone who knows what’s going on or saw what happened will call us, give us more information and help us catch the individual who did this.”
