There was a lot of discussion about the possibility of some sandbagging from Toyota Racing teams. That conversation was sparked by the Michigan International Speedway polesitter Brad Keselowski.

Brad Keselowski stated, “About this time every year NASCAR takes all the cars to kind of check to make sure that the competitive balance is where they want it to be, and I think we’ve seen the last two or three weeks that the Toyota cars are pretty dominant.”

NASCAR executive Steve O’Donnell comments on sandbagging, “We actually found it kinda comical this weekend.”

“We put a little bit of the rumor out there. And candidly, it worked.”

‘The wind tunnel that we would use for this, is under construction this week. So, it would’ve been impossible.”

“There were some rumors, ‘NASCAR is going to take the cars’ so you saw some articles about who may be sandbagging. Which I think is crazy.”

Toyota comments, “We brought our best cars and our best engines to Michigan this weekend. There is no such thing as not running 10 tenths.”

They also defended Kyle Busch’s comments while addresses the claims, “He [Kyle Busch] was trying so hard, that he nearly fenced his Camry on Friday. So, any inference that he’s holding back or any of our drivers or teams are holding back is a little offensive.”
