Denny Hamlin continued, “He’s known as Mr. Modified. I grew up racing at the same track his son raced.”

“Even though he only made 17 Cup starts… He collected over 700 victories in the modified’s and late model’s.

Ray Hendrick collected 2 top 5’s in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Additionally, he racked up 6 top 10’s. His NASCAR career spanned from 1956 to 1974. He’s career earnings totaled $6,995.

Denny Hamlin designs his own throwback car’s

Denny Hamlin talks the design process, “This is the 7th year that Sport Clips has been on my car in Darlington. Since the throwback scheme started, Sport Clips has let me pick my own scheme and design it from start to finish.”

On the flying #11, “This year, I went with something a little different. We’re throwing it back to Ray Hendrick’s flying 11 modified coupe.”
