Kyle Busch talks problems with Bristol track prep

Kyle Busch: “When you have another division here that’s pulling it up, it’s not really helping the NASCAR stuff.”

Kyle Busch will start from the pole in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event. That race starts in under an hour.

He too the pole earlier in the day. But Kyle Busch doesn’t expect it to be the same track for the race. Why?

As you read this, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is on track. They are actively pulling up a bulk of the track bite and rubber. The sticky stuff that Bristol Motor Speedway has spent weeks applying for this weekend’s NASCAR race.

Kyle Busch talks Bristol track prep

Kyle Busch comments via Sirius XM Speedway, “Their tires are the bias-ply’s. There softer than ours.”

“They got a lot of grip and they’re also 16 inches wide. So they definitely take up a lot of it in a hurry. You have enough cars here that’s it going to pull it all up.”

“It’s fine for what it’s doing for our racing. But when you have another division here that’s pulling it up, it’s not really helping the NASCAR stuff.”

Knowing that… What is the plan tonight?

Work backwards.

Kyle Busch explains to Dave Moody, “I think the biggest thing is you just start back where you were in practice. You just go back to baseline and work yourself off of that.”

“Do a job job of what you’ve already been doing all day long. And adjust from there. You know, we’ve got 3 sets of tires for the race, so we’ll be able to pit a couple times and continue to work on our stuff.”
