Furniture Row Racing is officially shutting down the #77

Furniture Row Racing will shut down the second car operation for the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season

It’s been expected for months. Furniture Row Racing has been seeking sponsorship for the car, to no avail.

Due to lack of sponsorship, the team has elected to shut down the team. A few weeks ago, Visser had sold the Charter. Though, if sponsorship would have been located, he stated he would have bought a new one.

The reason for the early announcement is out of respect to the team members. This gives the crew a few months advance, so they can search for a new job before the start of the 2018 season.

Furniture Row Racing still plans to re-open the #77 machine in the future.

Barney Visser: Statement
Team Owner: Furniture Row Racing

The following statement is attributed to Barney Visser, Furniture Row Racing team owner

“As Furniture Row Racing looks ahead to the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, the Denver, Colo. based team is not planning to field the No. 77 Toyota as a second car entry. It is our organization’s goal to operate a two-car team in the future and we will continue to seek sponsorship funding for the No. 77.”

“Our 100 percent focus for next season will be on the No 78 Toyota Camry, which will be driven by Martin Truex Jr,” Barney Visser concluded.
