First career pole for Dale Earnhardt Jr at Talladega Superspeedway

Dale Earnhardt Jr has 6 wins at Talladega Superspeedway. In his first 10 visits to the track, he finished 1st or 2nd, seven different times. Despite those impressive numbers, Dale Earnhardt Jr has never started from the pole position at Talladega.

That all changed today, in his final start at Talladega. Dale Earnhardt Jr will lead the field to the green on Sunday.

Dale Eanrhardt Jr comments on pole run

“Well, we got a pole earlier this year at Daytona,” Dale Earnhardt Jr states.

“We’ve been fighting our teammate, Chase and Alan and his group for a long time. It’s been a lot of fun to be honest with you. How those two teams have pushed an elevated each other.”

“Really, all the credit for getting the pole at a place like this, goes to the team. It goes to the car, the guys that work on it, the engine, body man. We got an amazing staff back at Charlotte that builds some awesome stuff.”

“I just hold the wheel straight and try not to bounce into the apron. But, get as close to it as you can and make sure you run a clean little lap. But, there ain’t much to it, as a driver.”

“This place has meant a lot to me. It’s awesome to hear those fans happy for us. Hopefully we’re gunna give them a lot more to cheer about before this weekend’s over.”

“Certainly, you think about that every time you suit up and get in the car. You imagine if that’s going to be the day you get a win. This would be a real important one if we could win. For all the fans, all year long.”

“We certainly owe them a win. It would be great to get ’em one Sunday,” Dale Earnhardt Jr concluded.

Previously, Dale Earnhardt Jr had a best starting position of 2nd at Talladega. He started runner-up on the field back in May 2017.

Dale Earnhardt Jr has an average finish at Talladega Superspeedway of 15.62. His average starting position is 14.6.
