Vice President of NASCAR leaving for FIA position

George Silbermann has accepted the role as ACCUS-FIA President

George Silbermann is the currently vice-president of NASCAR. Effective immediately, he has taken the role of FIA-USA president.

The ACCUS-FIA is a group sanction committee for IMSA, IndyCar, NASCAR, NHRA, SCCA, USAC in the United States division. He will head the USA division of the FIA.

Additionally, Silbermann will be the representative for North American motorsports to the global version of the FIA. The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile is the sanction oversea’s.

The FIA works in contact with 245 divisions of motorsports around the world. Those division scan across 143 countries.

Most notably, the FIA is the sanctioning body for the Formula One World Championship.

George Silbermann has spent the previous 40 years working in the motorsports industry. Formerly, he was the President/CEO of IMSA, a sportscar racing series owned by NASCAR.

Most recently, he held the position of NASCAR vice-president. For the remainder of 2017, he will maintain roles of NASCAR President as well as his new position with the ACCUS-FIA. In 2018, he will drop his NASCAR role and solely focus on the role of ACCUS-FIA President.

There has been no announcement from NASCAR as to who will fill the role of NASCAR vice-president.
