NASCAR is exploring opportunities in China

NASCAR VP: “We’ve received a number of inquiries about NASCAR and about starting the racing culture in the country.”

Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR Executive VP & Chief Racing Development Officer as been around the world and back. He’s returned via a 14 hour flight from Beijing, China.

The NASCAR executive visited Ningbo International Circuit during his trip. The 2.5 mile road course is in Ningbo, China.

“It was a long trip but I certainly learned a lot,” Steve O’Donnell stated via Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.

“Some great opportunities for NASCAR over in China, at some point. So, worthwhile and hopefully there’s some good thing to come in the future.”

What was NASCAR looking at in China?

“A hugely emerging car market in China. A lot of partners in the U.S. have business and are starting business in China.”

“So, for us, we’ve received a number of inquiries about NASCAR and about starting the racing culture in the country.”

“Really an exploratory trip for us. To go over and meet some potential partners and kinda emerge ourselves in the culture and see what the opportunities are.”

“I had the opportunity to take in a race at a new race track. It was cool, a unique experience. Certainly a lot to discuss and think about for the future.”

The trip wasn’t to sign any deals or make anything happen. It simply gets any possible partnership conversations moving.

Steve left for China on October 9th. He was back in time to see the race at Kansas Speedway.
