NASCAR drivers call for more short tracks

The moral of the story is that NASCAR needs more short tracks!

I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face and so will Dale Earnhardt Jr. This time, Clint Bowyer joins the party.

“That was wild finish. Man, I ain’t seen nothing like that, ever!,” Dale Earnhardt Jr excitedly tells Periscope.

“I don’t think I’ve even seen a short track finish that was so crazy. Just wild there at the end, crazy. I don’t even know where we ended up.”

That’s what NASCAR needs, every week.

-Dale Jr

“I had a lot of fun beatin’ and bangin’ and runnin’ into people. Doing everything you do at Martinsville. A lot of fun. You know what that says about NASCAR? That’s what NASCAR needs, every week.”

“NASCAR needs short track racin’ preferably, under the lights. If that was going on, more often than not in the sport. You wouldn’t have enough tickets.”

“You’d have to build tracks just like Bristol, with all the grandstands that you could find. That’s so much better than a lot of the things that we do.”

“I really don’t know how to put it into words. But, that kinda drama and action, that’s what grows the sport and it gets people talkin’.”

“We don’t need guys getting turned around and wrecked every week. I guess what I’m saying is — drama and exciting finishes.”

“The fans that are sitting there in the grandstands, cheering like crazy. Booin’ and cheerin’ after every interview for 15-20 minutes after the race.”

“We need that every weekend. They give it to you when you give them a crazy ass show. It was sumthin’ else and that’s how it used to be! Way back. Way back in the 80’s and stuff.”

“A lot more short tracks, a lot more of that stuff going on. Guys getting turned around, left and right. And not happy about it. Fans happy and fans mad, they couldn’t wait ’til the next week.”

“That was a big deal for the sport. Martinsville under the lights, sure did deliver. I was so jacked up when I got out of the car, I felt like I drank a pot of coffee.”

Kevin Harvick

Harvick stated after the race, “Bent fenders, hurt feelings — I love it!”

If nascar was 80% short tracks we’d be wearing gold plated diapers

To which Dale Earnhardt Jr responded: “If nascar was 80% short tracks we’d be wearing gold plated diapers man. #BruceDickinson”

Landon Cassill didn’t get it, many didn’t. It was a reference to a Saturday Night Live skit featuring Will Farrell and Christopher Walken. The skit if from April, 2000.

In recent years, the short tracks have all but been removed from the NASCAR schedule. The last remaining NASCAR short tracks; Martinsville Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway and Richmond Raceway.
