The former cast of TopGear famously were booted from the BBC. Well, technically is was just the one guy, Jeremy Clarkson.

Anyway, the band stuck together. Instead of filming the show without Clarkson, they all mutually left to do something different.

A new show entered the airwaves or just the interwebs, The Grand Tour. It’s a show produced by Amazon with a big box budget.

It’s not really the same show, only the same concept. The BBC owns the trademark rights on The Stig. Yet, they still needed a professional racing driver.

The Brits selected American racing driver Mike Skinner. On paper, the former NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion isn’t a replacement for The Stig. Though, we can all read between the lines.

The Grand Tour season 2 is set to be released. It will debut via Amazon Prime on December 8th. However, this time around, Mike Skinner will not be joining the team.

Mike Skinner statement on The Grand Tour

“FYI I won’t be joining the guys on The Grand Tour 2nd season – I wish them all the luck. My character wasn’t developed as I was told.”

“And I agree with many of you that it sucked – if you’re gonna wear Evil Knievel’s firesuit, you need to be Evil Flipping Knievel! Peace out.”

“By the way…I enjoyed some of those cars I got to drive & I don’t really hate the brits.”

“Thats the part I liked – driving the shit outta those cars is fun, still is and I’m damn old!,” Mike Skinner concluded.
