Kenny Wallace talks NASCAR car counts
Racing News
For a brief moment, NASCAR had 30 trucks on the entry list for Phoenix
NASCAR initially posted 30 trucks to their entry list. Since then, 2 more have joined. NASCAR generally tries to get 32 trucks to start the race.
Yet, the fans took the brief moment of 30 trucks as an opportunity to troll the sanctioning body.
Indycar starts about 21-22. F1, the premier form of open wheel racing, starts 22. Yet, here in the world of stock car racing, we amazingly start 32-40 between trucks and cup.
“Here we are in a bullshit debate about NASCAR starting 40 cars. No other anything, in the world, does that,” Kenny Wallace states via ‘The Late Shift’ on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.
“First of all, how many people go sit in the grandstands and count the cars?,” Kenny Wallace asks via ‘The Late Shift’ on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.
I might count windows

“Hell, I’m off-centered and I’m a weirdo. I might count windows and lines down the highway.”
“But, in my life, I’ve never counted how many cars are starting a race. Now, I’ve counted how many are still running. I’m like, ‘Oh my god, they’ve wrecked their ass off. I wanna see how many are left.’ ”
“We do that. But, at the start of the race, if you do that, you know you got that disease where you count windows.”
40 cars are on the entry list for both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series at Phoenix.
