Ross Chastain describes the Texas fight: Choking, punches, kicks and golf carts
Following the NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Texas Motor Speedway we had a fight. It happened just behind victory lane.
As Erik Jones was soon to pull into victory lane, a fight broke out behind the stage. In the shadows of the victory lane billboard, Gaughan was pulling Chastain from his race car.

TV only showed the retaliation. Something set Brendan Gaughan off before that. He then ran Chastain down the back straight, rubbing doors the entire length. Laps later, Chastain raced him equally as aggressive. An hour later, they were in a gang fight, of sorts.
NASCAR is currently looking for tape of the incident.

Ross Chastain tells the story
“When we pulled down off the track, for some reason we pulled down behind victory lane. Which probably didn’t help things. You know, it’s dark and there’s no lights back there,” Ross Chastain tells Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.
“As I was getting out of the car I was kinda surprised to see him and an allegiance of RCR guys. He had me by the neck, as I was still coming out of the car with my feet in my race seat.”
“Sittin’ on the door I realized there was about 20 guys surrounding us. And I had 3 guys at the time. It was ugly. Not something pretty to think back on.”
I got hit in the back of the head.

“They defiantly had the numbers and it showed. I had a couple guys for the #0 car jump in to help. I’m thankful for that. We thought we had it calmed down and I got hit in the back of the head. And taken down, into a golf cart.”
“I don’t know if it was just fists or stomped on a little bit. You know, it’s pretty crazy stuff. I definitely had a lot of things going through my mind at that point. One about how to get the heck out of that situation.”
“Luckily, some of my guys came back. We all kinda got separated there in the darkness. That was relieving to see their faces. A lot happened, real quick.”
“Definitely not impressed with the amount of people that came down there with Brendan and just went to wailin’. I got hit in the back of the head and one of the #0 guys did as well.”
“He ended up going to the hospital. He’s fine. I’m at the shop now and he’s here.”
I’m all for arguments and stuff but that was ugly.
