NASCAR is looking strong heading into the final race
Phoenix Raceway had a sold out crowd for the race on Sunday.
But, before Phoenix, controversy created conversation. That conversation, sells tickets.
“What Denny Hamlin did at Martinsville — That’s a script right out of the old playbook,” Kenny Wallace states via ‘The Late Shift’ on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.
“That takes me back to Darrell Waltrip and Rusty Wallace.”
Rusty Wallace spun Darrell Waltrip in turn 4 while coming to the white flag. That was in 1989, right before the big bang of NASCAR. The days when NASCAR couldn’t build enough seats.
“We can’t go back in time. But we can learn from history. It repeats itself.”
This is an ongoing show.
-Kenny Wallace
“I’m telling you right now, that what happened at Martinsville set us up for the end of the year. He ends up wrecking Chase Elliott.”
“You know, but that sets up what happens at Texas. But it plays out at Phoenix. This is an ongoing show.”
“And this is what we used to have. NASCAR didn’t plan what Denny did. But, in some way, I’m not condoning it, but in some way, in a funny way… NASCAR owe’s Denny Hamlin ‘show money’ ”
NASCAR is on the upswing.
-Kenny Wallace
“It created a show! This is what has been missing. These are stories, that’s the reason NASCAR is on the upswing.”
“Stage racing, you know, races don’t get stretched out anymore. Stage points, makes you go nuts. It makes the driver do what Denny did. It makes Chase do what he did to Denny.”
Listen, we’ve suffered long enough.
-Kenny Wallace
“It’s just a good feeling. Listen, we’ve suffered long enough. How many years do you think it’s been of complete negativity?
