Matt Kenseth discusses his final race after Homestead-Miami Speedway
Matt Kenseth finished 8th in what could be his final race in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
“I didn’t think about much for the last 20 laps,” Matt Kenseth states to NBC Sports after his final race. “Expect for trying to get by the 2 car, to be totally honest.”
“Last week, was a magical week. To win that race. Then, this week has been really fun. The pre-race stuff was really fun.”
“It was a really cool day. But, once you start the engine you really didn’t think about anything. Expect for trying to go out and preform the best you can and try to win that race.”
What does Matt Kenseth want his legacy to be?
“I always answer this wrong,” Matt Kenseth states.

“I think at the end of the day, people make up their own minds. Some people are gunna like ya, some people aren’t. Some people are going to respect you, some people won’t.”
“Whatever people think, they think. I tried the best I could, every week.”
“I didn’t always do the right thing, that’s for sure. But, I raced as hard as I could and at the time I felt like I was trying to do the right thing. I gave it my all, every time I went to the race track.”
What will you miss most?
“I guess the fans. You hear them yelling right now.”
“Last week was really really neat. When I was doing that backwards victory lap, the Wicky victory lap. You could hear the fans screaming through the window.”
