Agenda in recent NASCAR Drivers’ Council Meetings?
“Yeah, there is an agenda. We get that, typically from the drivers. We ask them what’s on their minds. What are some of the things we need to address? Not only for this season.”
NASCAR hosted at drivers’ council meeting during the Phoenix Raceway weekend. What was discussed?
“For that one, what are some of the things we could look at for 2018? Cars on track, minimum speeds. We’re looking at some of the restart rules. It’s actually really productive dialogue. We’ve got a great mix of young and veteran drivers who are really invested in the sport.”

That’s a good call. Minimum speed should definitely be increased. These cars at the back aren’t racing cars. They are more along the line of obstacles.
At Homestead, the difference between 1st and last in the MENCS was 3 full seconds, or 15 mph average. That’s actually not so bad compared to the trucks. In the NASCAR Truck Series, the difference was 8 seconds, or 35 mph average.

“Great meeting, It tends to happen on a Friday or Saturday [at the tracks]. In this case, we all met Saturday.”

Kevin Harvick
Veteran NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick is heavy involved in the drivers’ council and shaping the future of the sport. But, it’s not just the top level of NASCAR that he’s concerned about.
“Kevin Harvick a guy that really cares about the future of the sport. Not just the Monster Energy Series. He’s heavily involved with trying to put some races together for our series out West.”

“He’s involved with some of the younger drivers. That’s really what we like to see is our competitors not only competing on Sunday’s but caring about where the sports going to go 20-30 years from now as well.”
