Richard Childress: “The only reason he and his wife were here today was because of God and the Second Amendment”
Authorities are on a search for three armed men.
NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee and NASCAR team owner Richard Childress defended his home from the would be armed robbers.
The incident took place in Reedy Creek, NC an hour North of Charlotte, NC. Richard Childress and his wife heard a crash at his door.
Childress grabbed a gun. Upon getting to the suspects, he fired 3 shots at the 3 men.
Sheriff Grice noted that Childress was within the law to defend himself and his home. According to the NC Castle Doctrine an individual has the right to defend and protect themselves against this type of intrusion.
“The only reason my wife and I are here today is because of God and the Second Amendment,” Richard Childress told sheriff Grice of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
Police do not believe the suspects were hit with any of the shots. However, they were able to collect items from the scene to begin DNA tests.
A $10,000 reward has been announced for information leading to the arrest of the armed suspects.
