Update: New surveillance photos show suspects carrying rifles during attempted home-invasion at Richard Childress’ home
Almost a week ago, the North Carolina home of Richard Childress was hit by would-be robbers. It took place on Sunday night at 10:30 p.m.
Those robbers may or may not have been aware of the house they were attempting to rob. Updated images show that they sure came prepared, ready for war.
“I wondered,” Davidson County Sheriff David Grice said, when asked if this was a targeted attack by the suspects. “I don’t know. If they knew anything about him, they’d certainly be dumbasses to do it.
The updated stills of the surveillance footage show all 3 suspects carrying heavy-duty weapons. At least two of the suspects carried rifles as they approached the door.
Following a crash at the door, Richard Childress picked up his own gun and went downstairs to investigate the noise. Judy Childress, the wife of Richard, remained upstairs.
Richard Childress made it downstairs where he fired 3 gunshots and put his 2nd amendment right into full effect. The suspects fled and the home invasion was prevented. Authorities do not believe any of them were hit with bullets.
“The only reason my wife and I are here today is because of God and the Second Amendment,” Richard Childress told sheriff Grice on Sunday night.

Evidence was collected at the scene and sent to a lab for DNA testing. There’s been no update on the results of that test.
However, the reward for information leading the the arrests has been greatly increased. Originally, it was a $10,000. The bounty has been upgraded and multiplied by five, $50,000.
