Effective immediately, Boyd’s Speedway will be promoted by Kathie Coulter of Chattanooga, Tennessee. She and track owner David Duplissey have agreed on a lease type agreement for the 2018 season. Duplissey has removed himself and Dale McDowell from the day to day operations of the facility.

“I was hired on as marketing director in the middle of last summer and I loved every minute of it. So, when this opportunity arose, I knew it was my next step. I’m sure there’s going to be ups and downs, but no one wants Boyd’s to succeed more than myself, Coulter stated.

Her grandfather, E.A. Boyd, is the tracks founder.

“Racing is something that I have always had a passion for. I have literally spent every weekend of my life at a racetrack,” she laughed.

“I have loved working with the drivers and fans, as well as the Chattanooga community. We had a few charity races and did some outreach and I would love to do more of that this year.”

“There will be some changes coming, and hopefully the racers and fans will be happy with the adjustments. I’m really honored to have this opportunity. There’s probably only a handful of women promoters around, and I’m honored to join that very small group,” she concluded.

“I’m proud to have found someone like Kathie with the heart for the sport to assume the management and operations of the facility, Duplissey stated.

“I enjoy traveling, and the constraints with the track limited to that. I’m looking to retire, again, and maybe even get to race at Boyd’s,” he joked. “Her family history with the track and her passion is why Kimberly and I felt she was the right person for the job.”

“I’m planning on doing more racing this year and this certainly will be a weight off of my shoulders, McDowell said.

“I’ll still be involved with the track rentals and having my schools at the track. So that part isn’t changing. I’m excited to do more customer work with Shane and Sara relocating to Tennessee, I’ll be able to be at the shop more. I think this arrangement will benefit everyone involved, McDowell concluded.

“Our season starts in a few weeks but we are looking for sponsorship and advertising partners for the season,” Coulter said. “We have something for every budget and business. There’s a lot of excitement around the track right now and it’s the perfect time for people to join in.”
