The Chili Bow Nationals brings $28,000,000 to the Tulsa, Oklahoma economy

The Chili Bowl Nationals is a week long indoor dirt midget show hosted in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Each year, a tiny 1/5 mile race track draws the attention of the entire racing industry.

Yesterday, during the Chili Bowl Nationals press conference it was announced that the little bullring race track has a big impact on the local economy.

“The Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire is worth $28,000,000 to the Tulsa economy,” the announcement read.

The announcement was made as the stage was filled with an all-star cast of drivers. Rico Abreu, Tony Stewart, Christopher Bell and Kyle Larson took questions from the press.

The event technically began yesterday with Chili Bowl practice rounds. However, tonight, they go racing. The Race of Champions event is the highlight of tonights program.

350+ drivers will take to the track throughout the week. The payout of the race isn’t huge. But, the prestige certainly is. The event concludes on Saturday night with a 55 lap A main feature.

The Chili Bowl Nationals takes place at the Tulsa Expo Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The yearly event began in 1987, which featured just 52 entries. Now, it’s a global event with entries from all over the world.
