Scott Speed suspended from iRacing; Former ambassador sells his rig (CRASH VIDEOS)

Scott Speed was once used in iRacing marketing materials – Now, the former NASCAR & F1 driver has been suspended from the online racing service – Rig sold

Scott Speed is a former NASCAR and F1 driver who turned to Global Rallycross, where he became champion. Now, Scott Speed is a 3-time Global Rallycross champion. In fact, he’s claimed that title three years straight from 2015-1017.

Watch the videos below.

Recently, iRacing has engaged in the creation of digital dirt surfaces for racers worldwide to enjoy. First came dirt ovals, then came rallycross. Scott Speed was even used in a few iRacing promotions highlighting the new venture for the service.

It’s the off-season, thus Scott Speed has been very active in online simulated races. But, it’s gone all wrong. Scott Speed has gotten a bit of an online reputation for someone that will wreck you intentionally.

After multiple cases of on-track issues being reported, Scott Speed has been suspended from the online racing platform. Two videos of said incidents have surfaced, shown below.

“The in not real life, it’s a game,” Scott Speed told The Drive. “The penalty for my action if protested against, is a suspension, which I accept and received. I personally wouldn’t feel like a man protesting a guy who I just accidentally wrecked out of the lead for returning the favor. But that’s me, and I understand that thinking is not treating iRacing with the appropriate amount of respect and is wrong. For that I sincerely apologize.”

In turn, Scott Speed placed his iRacing simulator up for sale. It was listed via the Facebook marketplace for $7,500. It has since been sold.

Global Rallycross retaliation

One was in the Global Rallycross class. Two cars took the Joke lap, at the same time. They rubbed fenders into the narrow entrance at Iowa Speedway. Speed gathered his car back up and intended to side swipe the other driver heading into the next corner.

Unfortunately, he missed. Instead, he grazed him and Speed went head on into a wall. Taking himself out, Speed went back to the pit lane. After he was hooked to the digital tow truck, he adopted an alternative strategy.

This time, he came flying out of the pit lane. Cole Trickle style, he lined up his target and t-boned him in the door.

The other video is from a Porsche race at the Nurburgring. In this video, we don’t see was caused the retaliation.

However, Scott Speed attempted to side swipe James Hewlett down the straight away. Speed missed on his first swing and ended up in the grass.

In the next corner, he tried to get the job done. He cut the corner completely to make up the lost ground. He was attempting to t-bone Hewlett as he reached the apex of the corner.

But, Hewlett say it coming. He hit the brakes and Speed went flying perpendicular through the corner.

“I saw you coming. What an absolute fool,” Hewlett stated as he commented on his own video below.

iRacing sporting code

I would guess that Scott Speed hasn’t read the iRacing sporting code. They take a strict approach to intentional wrecking. In the case of a normal accident, it’s a no fault system. iRacing understands that accidents happen in racing. However, when it comes to intentional crashing, they crack down.

2.2.1. iRacing places a high value on responsible driving and fair competition. Accidents in racing are inevitable; they are a natural consequence of close competition. The iRacing.com graduated licensing program stresses the development of driving skills and the avoidance of accidents, rewarding safe driving and minimizing the number of on-track accidents.

2.2.2. In the physical world, the risk of injury and expensive car repairs serves as a natural deterrent to reckless driving. Because those risks do not exist in the virtual world, iRacing uses a system that automatically calculates a driver’s safety record through each lap in every Official on-track session. The system does not assess blame for an incident, so responsibility for avoiding crashes still resides with each individual driver

6.10.3. Deliberate, intentionally malicious, or retaliatory wrecking is prohibited. Competitors who believe that they have been victims of such action – and those competitors who believe that they have witnessed such action – are strongly encouraged to file a protest through the proper channels
