Brad Loyet undergoes surgery after tire malfunction during inflation

Tire explodes at the Loyet Motorsports race shop

Brad Loyet had a weld break on a bead lock wheel during inflation at the shop. The open wheel racer is out with an arm injury after the tire explosion.

Last week, the crew for Earl Pearson Jr had the exact same thing happen. The dirt late model team was preparing for racing at Golden Isles Speedway. JC Wright had the weld break at 35 lbs of air pressure. His situation also resulted in surgery to the arm.

Both of these incidents happened the exact same way. Both had a weld break, during inflation. They also resulted in similar injuries.

However, Brad Loyet’s arm injury was slightly more extensive. He suffered multiple breaks to his arm, two plates have been installed. Loyet will now undergo therapy as he recovers to climb back into the cockpit.

“Brad is out of surgery and in recovery. The surgeon expressed the severity of the injury because of the multiple breaks and open wounds. He has two plates in his forearm, securing the breaks. We will need to monitor the arm wound for healing and possible skin grafts. He also has a severe wound on his thigh that will continued to be monitored as well. He will have a long road to a full recovery.”

“Earlier this morning Brad Loyet was brought to the hospital with his arm badly damaged from an accident at the shop. He’s alert and waiting for surgery later this afternoon. We will provide more updates when we can. Thank you to Christian Busche for acting quickly.”

“First off thanks to everyone for the thoughts and well wishes. It’s safe to say I’ve had much better days! Like to thank my wife Cassie Rocco Loyet for everything she deals with for me. Christian Busche acted fast and likely made a horrible situation better. My family was all here to support me which helped keep my spirits high. I’ll be down and out for a while and am stuck here for a couple days. Sounds like the surgeon did a great job and I should recover fully with time and extensive therapy!”

“Secondly if you own even one Keizer wheel throw it in the trash! I’ve aired up thousands of tires and am very lucky to even be writing this right now. Weld broke clean off on only one side as it did not penetrate both pieces of metal! Spend the money and pay for quality!”

“Thirdly can I get a LETS GO BLUES!!”
