Scott Bloomquist details his run at East Bay Raceway Park

Bloomquist grabbed his first podium finish of the week; Discusses contact with Overton

Ahead of last nights main event, Bloomquist had runs at East Bay of 5th, 13th, 16th.

On Thursday night, Scott Bloomquist returned to the front at East Bay Raceway Park. After winning the heat race, he started on the front row of the main event.

On an early restart he actually moved around Kyle Bronson for the lead off turn 2. However, there was a spin at the back, resulting in a complete restart. On the redo version, Bronson was able to hold him off.

“This place is a pretty crazy place really,” Scott Bloomquist tells RacingNews.co following his runner-up finish on Thursday night.

“It’s harder figuring out what line to run early. We moved around quite a bit. I settled in to try to get going on the bottom. That was the place to be early.”

“Then, the top started getting black and getting some traction in it. I saw the #91 car was going pretty decent up top. We went up top and that felt better.”

“We just tried to stay pace. You know, the restarts are always interesting here. You just get a lot of slide jobs and different things happen.”

“In the end, we finally got enough heat in the front tires that the car was steering and driving pretty good.”

“We had a little incident with Overton. Which turned out alright, I guess. He slid up and parked in front of us. He expects us to lift. That’s not the way we do it.”

Overton slid Bloomquist in turn 1. At the exit of turn 2, Overton had no momentum. Bloomquist was boxed in with nowhere to go and a large speed differential, he got into the back of Overton. Once he was clear to the bottom, he dived left and took it.

On the bottom, Bloomquist led Overton into turn 3. Off turn 4, he was back in 2nd. The #0 car remained in toe with Sheppard for the remainder of the race but came up just short with a runner-up finish.
