First Daytona practice times – February 10, 2018

The first NASCAR practice of the season is complete at Daytona International Speedway

This morning, 17 cars took to Daytona International Speedway. It’s the first official practice for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. This practice round is for The Clash at Daytona.

The Ford’s are light on downforce for the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. As expected, they are quick in a straight line.

Three Team Penske drivers were in the top five at the conclusion of the first Daytona practice.

Note: The cars look very different this year. Due to the no ride height rule, the rear bumpers are riding about 2 inches off the track.

Note 2: NASCAR will make a gear change after the RPM numbers in the first practice. That is a change from 360 to 350. That change doesn’t apply to The Clash field.
