Kevin Harvick reacts to Hamlin’s altercation; Adderall comments (AUDIO)

Kevin Harvick: “Sometimes Denny, it’s better just to be quiet.”

Before the Daytona 500, Denny Hamlin made an appearance on a loose based sports radio show. He stated that 70% of NASCAR drivers take Adderall.

The next day, the comments took off virally. Simultaneously, Denny Hamlin sort of retracted his statement by saying he was joking.

“Sometimes, you can say thing that you think are funny, that really aren’t that funny,” Kevin Harvick explained via ‘Happy Hours’ on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio. “I know that Denny kinda said he was making an off the cuff comment trying to be funny.”

“But, it really wasn’t that funny. Because, as you look at the rest of the drivers and the people that are in the sport and understand the drug policy and the things we go through on a weekly basis. It kinda made him seem a little bit out of touch with everything that’s actually going on in the sport.”

“Not a very cool comment. And I don’t think anybody in the garage really appreciated having to answer the questions or deal with them.”

“Sometimes Denny, it’s better just to be quiet.”

After the race, Bubba Wallace made an Adderall comment following contact with Denny Hamlin at the start/finish line. Shortly after that, the two engaged in a heated argument in the infield.

“Like I say, those 70% of drivers that he referred to, are mad. Because you’re the guy sitting in the trailer doing the drug testing 10-12 times a year,” Harvick refers to the frustration boiling over.

“Whether he thinks it was an off the cuff comment or something he meant to say. It still offended most everybody in the garage.”

“If you’re going to play around joking and think it’s not something that everybody is going to take offense to. I think he’s probably seeing that nobody really appreciated it. It put everybody in a bad spot.”
