Auto Club Xfinity Results – March 17, 2018

NASCAR Xfinity Series results from Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California on March 17th, 2018

Today, the NASCAR Xfinity Series is set to race at Auto Club Speedway. The bad-fast 2-mile mile is located in Fontana, California.

Christopher Bell and Joey Logano will lead them to the green. 35 laps in stage 1, 35 more in stage 2 and 80 laps in stage 3 will complete the 150 lap event.

Stage 1: NXS
Auto Club Speedway

Bell selects the outside line. Green flag, Bell gets the jump, clear by a car length into turn 1. He runs the middle on the entry and drifts up to the wall on the exit. They fan out 4 wide for 10th down the back.

Lap 5, there’s a battle for the lead up front. Logano is on the rear bumper of Bell. Logano has a run off turn 2. He side drafts him down the back and he’s clear before the entry to turn 3. New leader, Joey Logano.

5 to go, Logano leads by 5.6 seconds. Bell is dropping anchor through the field. 4 to go, the caution is out. Matt Mills is parked against the wall in turn 2. He’ll need a tow and they aren’t going to go back to green.

Joey Logano wins stage 1 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Auto Club Speedway.

Stage 1 Results: 1. Joey Logano; 2. Justin Allgaier; 3. Cole Custer; 4. Elliott Sadler; 5. Tyler Reddick; 6. Christopher Bell; 7. John Hunter Nemechek; 8. Daniel Hemric; 9. Ross Chastain; 10. Ryan Truex;

Stage 2: NXS

The field hits the pit lane. Logano is first in first off. Justin Allgaier is 2nd to the pit exit.

Green flag, Logano is clear by a car length at the flag stand. Allgaier got a horrible jump.

Lap 10 in stage 2, Tyler Reddick is climbing through the field. He currently runs 3rd, behind Allgaier. The #7 of Allgaier leads a train of 10 cars who are two second back to the leader.

17 to go, Cole Custer is clear of Reddick. But, Reddick is coming with a full head of steam off the top. Custer shuts the door down the back straight. Reddick hardly lifts, if at all. They all continue. However, Custer’s right rear fender is now buckled into the wind.

Reddick clears them all. Reddick leads the chase for Joey Logano.

14 to go, Austin Cindric is in the wall. He entered high, the back in stepped out. He chased it up the hill, the front end stuck and he slapped the wall. The track is still green but Cindric hits the pit lane.

5 to go, Ryan Reed has smoke coming out the back of his machine. However, he’s still rolling in 16th.

2 to go, Logano leads Reddick by 1.3 seconds. The gap was 4-5 second just a few laps ago. Reddick is glued to the wall and chasing down a possible stage win.

The caution is out. John Hunter Nemechek had a vibration. The right front tire has just exploded.

Stage 3: NXS
Auto Club Speedway

Logano is first in and first off. Reddick’s pit stop was .4 seconds quicker, he still came up a few feet short at pit exit.

“I’m having a balst right now running with these guys,” Tyler Reddick radio.

Green flag, Logano gets the initial jump, he’s clear by a full car length by the flag stand. Reddick fights back with a side draft. He pulls back even with Logano into turn 1. Logano has the corner exit speed off turn 2, Reddick slots into 2nd.

65 to go, Reddick is backing up to Bell. Logano leads by 1.3 seconds.

57 to go, Chistopher Bell is scrapping on the wall. He drafts Reddick and they are both running down Logano. They’re now just a second back to the leader.

52 to go, the caution is out for Christopher Bell. Wheel spin off turn 4 sent Bell to the inside grass. He got too high and into the dirty area of the track. No damage but he’ll restart in the back.

The field hits the pit lane. Logano has the fastest stop at a 14.5, he leads the field off the pit lane.

Green, Reddick throws another side draft. It’s a repeat on the last restart. Logano leads off turn 2, Reddick slides in behind his bumper. Bell is running 4 wide at the back.

Trouble! Bell had a run on Michael Annett off turn 4. Bell filled the hole on the top at they reached the front straight. Annett still tried to close the door. He wasn’t clear, Annett pivots off the nose of Bell and into the wall. Damage for both cars.

Green, Logano gets a jump. This time he switches lanes to block the inside line into turn 1. They’re 3 wide for the lead with Allgaier and Dillon in the middle of turns 1-2. Logano is on the gas on the high side. He reconfirms the lead off turn 2.

Caution. An engine has expired for Dylan Lupton. He runs for a little team. Earlier in qualifying, he wrecked. The car put the backup together, now they’ve lost the engine.

Logano stays out on the race track. Of the leaders, he’s the only one. Most every other car hits the pit lane. Allgaier wins the race off pit road he will restart inside the top 10.

Green, Logano is clear of Brandon Jones. Allgaier is coming quickly. Logano’s tires are 4 laps older.

35 to go, Allgaier is on the bumper of Logano. The fresh tire gamble is working.

30 to go, the caution is out. Debris is on the track. It looks like a tire. This caution will nullify the advantage Allgaier had. Logano hits the pit lane, not too many follow! He’ll restart 16th.

Green, bump drafting into turn 1 both both lanes. Elliott Sadler wins the battle off turn 2. In one lap, Logano has climbed inside the top 10. He’s passing them 3 at a time, he’s up to 5th in two laps.

22 to go, Logano climbs back to the lead. He cruises right on by Sadler like he’s sitting still.

12 to go, the caution is out for debris. The field hits pit road. Logano is the first one to pit exit with 4 tires. Ryan Sieg took no tires. He’ll restart as the leader.

Green, Logano has a push from Sadler. Sieg falls outside the top 10 before turn 1. Sadler is completely sideways off turn 2. Allgaier takes 2nd away from him.

Sadler and Allgaier continue to fight for 2nd. Logano has checked out as the teammates battle for the runner up spot.

No competition, Joey Logano cruises to victory in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Auto Club Speedway. Kaz Grala is wrecking across the line in a battle for 14th.
