Kyle Larson’s car chief has been ejected from Texas Motor Speedway

Larson penalized at Texas Motor Speedway

Kyle Larson was scheduled to start in the 10th position at Texas Motor Speedway following the rain shortened qualifying session on Friday. However, he will now be moved to the tail of the field.

This news comes just ahead of the green flag in Fort Worth, Texas.

Kyle Larson failed NASCAR’s new optical scanning station three times. As a result, the #42 driver has been handed a two-part penalty at the 1.44-mile speedway.

In addition to starting for the tail car chief David Bryant has been ejected from the speedway. The Chip Ganassi Racing team will be forced to make calls in the race without their car chief.

Today, Texas Motor Speedway will host the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. The race is set to get underway.

This marks the 5th ejection since NASCAR introduced the new penalty ahead of the 2018 racing season. 4 of 7 NASCAR weekends have featured a ruling of the new penalty.

Why the car chief? NASCAR see’s the car chief as a very important rule within the team. That role has grown more important to these racing teams in recent years.
