NASCAR Xfinity Series starting lineup from Richmond Raceway on April 20, 2018

The NASCAR Xfinity Series makes a Friday night appearance. Before they race, they’ll set the field for the ToyotaCare 250.

It’s knockout qualifying. Three rounds of qualifying with a thinning field in each round. Round 3 will feature 12 cars in a run for the pole.

Round 1

15 minute session, the top 24 cars will advance to round 2.

9 minutes remain in round 1, John Hunter Nemechek sits at the top of the board with a 22.996.

6 minutes remain, Cole Custer and Christopher Bell are on track for the first time in round 1. Custer jumps to the top of the board. Bell crosses the line seconds later, he takes the top spot away.

1 minutes remains, Cole Custer has fallen all the way to 21st. Gragson is 23rd. Gragson is set to make his first NASCAR Xfinity Series start.

John Hunter Nemecheck wins round 1.

Round 2

10 minute session, the top 12 advance to the final round.

6 minutes remain in round 2, Noah Gragson sits in P1.

4 minutes remain, Justin Allgaier to the top of the board.

Ryan Reed gets bumped to 13th with just under a minute to go. He punches the throttle to make a second attempt. He’ll start his lap with just seconds remaining on the clock. Reed gets loose off the corner, he shuts it down.

Justin Allgaier wins round 2.

Round 3

5 minute run for the pole. Austin Cindric is the first car on the track. He has the most laps on his tires of all drivers in the remaining 12.

2 minutes left, Cole Custer only has two laps on his tires. He takes to the track. He gets close on his first lap but he keeps going. He gets it done on his 2nd lap, Custer to the top of the board.

Cole Custer win lead them to the green flag. He’s the pole sitter for the ToyotaCare 250.
