Jim Cassidy has left NASCAR

Cassidy was promoted to the new role in January

In January, Jim Cassidy took the Chief International Officer for NASCAR. He reported directly to Steve O’Donnell, Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer.

Cassidy’s role was on the international divisions of NASCAR. He oversaw all international competition and commercial operations.

What international series? NASCAR Pinty’s Series in Canada, NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series and NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.

“NASCAR racing is broadcast in over 185 countries and territories, with race fans engaging stock car racing in person at events in Canada, Mexico and across Europe. The demand for NASCAR racing internationally has never been stronger and we look forward to bringing our sport closer to race fans everywhere,” Cassidy said back in February upon taking the new role.

However, 5 months after the promotion, Cassidy has left the sanctioning body. Previously, he spent 2 decades climbing the ranks within the company.

NASCAR comments on Cassidy’s departure: “Jim Cassidy has spearheaded a number of key initiatives throughout his time with the sanctioning body. We thank him for his many years of outstanding contributions, and wish him well in all future endeavors.”

Jim Cassidy comments on his departure: “I’ve enjoyed a very rewarding career with NASCAR for nearly two decades. But now is time for a change and to pursue new opportunities. I hold the France family and the sport in the highest regard. All the best to my NASCAR family moving forward.”
