Justin Allgaier talks Xfinity Series races without Cup drivers in the field

Justin Allgaier: “The one thing I love about the sport in these last 4 weeks is guys that are getting opportunities that maybe haven’t in the past.”

The NASCAR Xfinity Series has been exciting for the last 4 weeks. Not that it wasn’t exciting before. But, there’s no question the product presented to the race fans has improved without Cup drivers in the field.

For the last 4 weeks, MENCS drivers have been barred from the support series. For 2018, all 4 the Dash for Cash races and the qualifier for the first round in addition to all playoff races are lacking drivers from the premier series.

But, what’s an Xfinity winner’s perspective of it?

Justin Allgaier claimed the win yesterday at Dover International Speedway. He fought off a door from his teammate Elliott Sadler and went to victory lane for JR Motorsports.

“It’s been unique. I don’t know that I could tell you that it’s better or worse,” Justin Allgaier says after winning the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Dover.

“I let everyone else kinda make the judge of that one. The cup guys obviously are extremely fast. But, I mean, we saw today the guys that were filling in for those rides that were just as fast.”

“The one thing I love about the sport in these last 4 weeks is guys that are getting opportunities that maybe haven’t in the past. The passion, the drive and the competitive nature was there as much or more as I’ve remembered it, in a long time.”

“The other part of it is, guys have been super respectful when they’ve raced. That’s been a little bit different. Not that the Cup guys aren’t respectful. It’s just a different style of race usually whenever the Cup guys are in it.”

“I don’t have a feel one way or the other. But, it has been a lot of fun. This has been the best race of the year for sure.”
