Joey Logano retaliated on Kyle Larson; Yet, nobody’s mad

Kyle Larson knows Logano retaliated but finds it hard to be mad when he admittedly wrecked Logano first

Here’s a twist… It’s fairly rare that two drivers wreck each other then completely agree with what happened. But, that’s exactly how this story goes.

With 2 laps remaining the NASCAR All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway Kyle Larson was in a battle with Joey Logano for 4th off turn 4. This was in the action packed event featuring restrictor plates on a 1.5-mile track.

Larson dove it to the bottom in turn 3. However, Logano took it to the top. Larson was expecting to be clear to the wall at the exit. Logano stuck his nose in there and took away 6 feet of the exit from Larson.

With 6 feet removed, Larson couldn’t make the corner. He ran wide and push Logano into the fence.

Logano bounced off the fence and right rear’d him. Larson was pointed to the outside wall. However, he quickly over corrected it and spun it through the infield grass, picking up minor damage.

“I was just trying to carry as much throttle as I can. Cause the package is pretty slow,” Kyle Larson told Fox Sports after the NASCAR All-Star race.

“I tried to bail. Yeah, he tried to leave me as much room as he could. I was trying to leave him room once I realized I wasn’t going to make the corner.”

“I shave him in the wall and he obviously retaliated. It is what it is. I want to be frustrated because I got wrecked on purpose but I put him in the fence too.”

“I hate to admit it but the package was kinda fun. I’d hate to go this slow every week. But, for select tracks, it was pretty good.”

“From my seat, it was a good time. Tough to pass. You’d try to pull off to the bottom and you’d get kinda hung out down there. And there’d be a line of them behind ya.”

“If I could just get the lead. You never really know how my car would have been in clean air.”

Logano was asked about that incident in the media center. He wasn’t made aware of Larson’s stance on the incident. By that, I mean that he didn’t know that Larson isn’t upset.

“Well, he fenced me. Then, I bounced off the wall. Then, there he was. After he fenced me, I bounced off and he happened to be there.”

At this point there was a very long pause…

“He probably shouldn’t have fenced me.”
