2018 Pocono Raceway qualifying results featuring the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series

3 rounds of knockout qualifying will set the grip for Sunday at Pocono Raceway.

Several cars didn’t get a chance to make a qualifying run in the one and only pre-qualifying practice. In addition to rain in the forecast for tomorrow, multiple teams elected to get in a banker race setup.

Round 1

Qualifying is set to begin in 10 minutes, 6 cars are still working through pre-qualifying inspection. Suarez and Johnson are two of those drivers.

It’s a 15 minutes session in round 1. The top 24 cars will advance to round 2.

Ryan Blaney is the first car on the track in qualifying.

7 minutes remain, Clint Bowyer cooks the corner. He backs it down and returns to the pit lane. He’ll have to make another run. His tires will have 1.5 more laps on them than other drivers.

Bubba Wallace was another driver to cook his first attempt. On his 2nd attempt, he coasted all the way to the tunnel turn to save as much tire as he could. He stood on the gas and he will advance to round 2.

Every driver made it through inspection and turned a lap.

Kevin Harvick wins round 1 in MENCS qualifying at Pocono Raceway. This is the first qualifying or practice session of the day in the NXS or MENCS that wasn’t won by Kyle Busch.

Round 2

10 minutes in round 2. The top 12 drivers will advance to the final round.

Joey Logano is the first car on the track. Many others follow the #22 early. Harvick jumps right to the top of the board of the 7 cars that cross the line early. Ryan Newman picked up .4 seconds.

William Byron is heading back to pit road. He’s another driver to cook the corner.

Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch are neck-n-neck at the conclusion of round 2.

Round 3

A short 5 minute run for the pole position at Pocono Raceway.

Kyle Busch is the first car on track. Busch runs wide off turn 3!

Harvick had 1.5 tenths in the bag! He jumps to the top of the board.

Blaney to the top of the board! He takes the top spot by .026 seconds. Blaney takes the pole position at Pocono Raceway!
