NASCAR Xfinity Series results from Pocono Raceway on June 2, 2018

Today, the NASCAR Xfinity Series takes the green flag in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. The 2.5-mile tricky triangle of Pocono Raceway is set to host the NXS.

It’s a new aero package for the track. The package was run once last season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Aero ducts, restrictor plates and more downforce create groups of cars on the race track.

UPDATE: Kyle Busch fails post-race inspection

25 laps in stage 1, 25 more in stage 2 and 50 laps in stage 3 will complete the 100 lap event. Cole Custer and Ryan Truex are set to lead the field to the line. Custer has chosen the outside lane.

Stage 1

Green flag, Kyle Busch gives a push to Cole Custer into turn 1. Custer is clear of the field as they fan out 4-5 wide at the back. Kyle Busch drives around the outside of Truex in turn 3.

The leaders snake back down the front stretch to complete lap 1. The snake started at the front but it continues all the way through the field to the back.

Lap 2, Kyle Busch looks to the outside again in turn 3, this time it’s for the lead. He gets to his right rear but can’t stay there. Busch pulls all the way to the rear bumper of Custer down the front stretch, Custer swings low to block.

That block created a narrow entry for the leader into turn 1. Custer drifts up the hill in turn 1, he can’t make the corner with the narrow entry. Busch swung a bit wider for his entry, he cuts under Custer out of turn 1. New leader, Kyle Busch.

3 to go in stage 1, Cole Custer heads for the pit lane! That’s a bold move which he made right before pit lane was set to close. Custer says the car was too tight as he fell to 5th.

1 to go, Kyle Busch leads Christopher Bell by 7 seconds. Kyle Busch wins stage 1 at Pocono Raceway!

Stage 2

Chase Elliott takes two tires, he picks up 6 positions to lead the race off pit road. Kyle Busch comes off 2nd with 4 new tires. Cole Custer will lead the field to the green with the short pit at the end of stage 1.

Speeding on pit road for the stage 1 winner! Kyle Busch will go to the back. His teammate Christopher Bell was also caught speeding.

“Yeah. I guess that will be good,” Custer refers to the penalty over the radio.

Green flag, Custer leads the field to the inside in turn 1 with a push from Elliott Sadler. Spin at the back! Michael Annett is around in front of the field, they all avoid him.

Green, Custer, Allgaier and Nemechek line up bumper to bumber on the outside lane. Allgaier has a look in turn 1, Custer leads.

Lap 12 in stage 2, Kyle Busch is 3 wide and making up time in a hurry. He’s already cracked the top 15! There’s only been 2 green flag laps in this stage so far. Lap 39, he’s in the top 10.

5 to go in stage 2, Allgaier is all over the back bumper of Cole Custer. The top 4 are under a blanket.

4 to go, several cars just outside the top five hit the pit lane. The top 4 all stay out as they race for the lead.

Allgaier looked for a way by Custer down the front stretch. Menard and Cindric lock up. Move Menard to 2nd.

1 to go, Menard looks to the inside down the front stretch. They side draft each other back and forth. Allgaier and Cindric line up behind the leaders, two by two. Menard slips by Custer in the final corner!

Stage 2 Results: 1. Paul Menard; 2. Cole Custer; 3. Justin Allgaier; 4. Austin Cindric; 5. John Hunter Nemechek; 6. Kyle Busch; 7. Chase Elliott; 8. Elliott Sadler; 9. Tyler Reddick; 10. Ryan Truex;

Stage 3

Matt Tifft takes two tires, he leads off the pit lane. Menard is the first car out of the pits with 4 tires. Tifft will restart 4th.

Green, Brandon Jones leads off turn 1. John Hunter Nemechek is pestering his inside but Jones wins the battler. Allgair is on the pit lane as they take the green! That will be his final stop of the day.

Lap 57, Chase Briscoe is hard in the wall in the tunnel turn! Michael Annett got loose in front of him, Briscoe looked to the outside. As Annett correct he pushed Briscoe into the outside wall. Multiple cars hit the pit lane.

Green, Brandon Jones gets a big push from Kyle Busch. They’re 4 wide at the back, crash! Sadler was on the rear bumper of Allgaier in a 4 wide situation. Allgaier was pushed ahead and to the right, he slid across the nose of the outside car. Allgaier bounced off the outside wall and back across the track into Christopher Bell.

Green, Kyle Busch wins the race into turn 1.

23 to go, Kyle Busch was leading by 1.3 second a few laps ago. Custer and Hemric have linked together in an attempt to catch the leader, the lead is down to .8 seconds.

20 to go, Kyle Busch leads by 1.5 seconds. Custer has broken away from Hemric.

14 to go, Hemric reels him back in and takes over 2nd. Kyle Busch leads by 3 seconds.

4 to go, the race is for 2nd and some drivers might be short on fuel as we get to the end. Chase Elliott has climbed to the rear bumper of Hemric for 2nd.

2 to go, Elliott has a run off turn 1. He swings to 2nd before the tunnel turn. That could be the race for the win if Busch runs out of fuel. His teammate just ran out.

Under power, he survived a speeding penalty. Kyle Busch wins at Pocono Raceway in the NASCAR Xfinity Series!
