Round 1 results from The Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway – Thursday night makeup event run on a Friday afternoon

Today, it’s the first of the Dirt Late Model Dream weekend at the .5-mile of Eldora Speedway. This event was originally schedule for Thursday night which was postponed to this afternoon due to wather. Today’s event is a full program will feature twin features. Event main event will pay $5,000 to the winner.

Hot Laps – Report

Scott Bloomquist’s transponder did not click as he crossed the line in hot laps. He either didn’t have one on or it didn’t work.

Tim Manville looped his car in his hot lap session, no damage. Shane Clanton tagged the wall in his round. Clanton is still quickest in his group. Though, Bloomquist was in that round as well with no time.

A 15.277 is the quickest time in hot laps. Shannon Babb sits at the top of the board.

Qualifying – Report

Last night, 71 cars turned a lap in qualifying. Mike Marlar was quickest overall. However, multiple cars were remaining in qualifying as the rain came. As a result, the session is set to be completely restarted this afternoon with all times reset. Instead of the typical 2 lap qualifying round, it will be just a single lap.

Freddie Carpenter qualified 15th last night. However, he lost a left rear tire off turn 4 in his qualifying run tonight. Hudson O’Neal was 2nd last night when the rain came, tonight he tagged the wall on his lap and will be buried mid pack in his heat. Nick Hoffman also tagged the wall on his lap.

Mike Marlar was fastest in qualifying last night. He’s just tagged the wall in turn 2 on his lap and tore off the right rear portion of the spoiler. That will put him toward the tail.

Tim McCreadie is quickest overall. He’s the only car in the 15 second bracket. A 15.958 is the pole time.From here, the field is spilt into even an odd heat race groups and each will run their own feature event.

Heat 1 – Report

Shannon Babb and Gregg Satterlee lead them to the start in the first heat race of the night. Green, Shannon babb leads into turn 1. Miller looks for the lead on the bottom. Satterlee had a slow entry but he’s making it all back on the exit. Satterlee is looking for the lead on the bottom in turn 3. Babb holds him off.

Heat 2 – Report

Jon Henry and Brandon Sheppard set row one in heat race number two. Green, Henry drives it deep into turn 1. Sheppard crosses him on the exit. Henry dives it deep again in turn 3, he takes the lead back. Sheppard crosses him once more. Back in turn 1, Henry dives deep again! Sheppard tags the wall slightly, Henry holds the lead.

5 to go, the caution is out. Paul Stubber is around.

Green, slow restart for Sheppard on the bottom. Dale McDowell gets a run on him on the high side. Sheppard tried to slide him, McDowell holds 2nd.

Jon Henry holds them off to win heat race number two.

Heat 3 – Report

Don O’Neal and Jason Jameson line up first. Green, Don O’Neal leads into turn 1. Devin Moran and Andy Haus tag the wall in turn 1! They stack up behind them and Bryant Dickinson is around.

Green, Don O’Neal gets the jump into turn 1. Richards and Moran trade sliders for 3rd.

5 to go, Jameson tags the wall just ahead of Moran. They nearly make contact but Moran is hard on the brakes. 3 to go, Jameson tags the wall off turn 4. Moran looks to the inside in turn 3, slider.

Bryant Dickinson has bounced off the wall and is slow just ahead of them! Moran has nowhere to go! He slides into the side of the slow car. Contact and Moran is catapulted nose first into the outside wall. That was a brand new race car for Moran.

Green, Richards takes the lead on the bottom in turn 1! Don O’Neal has a run off the top, he crosses him on the exit and retakes the lead. Don O’Neal wins heat race number 3.

Heat 4 – Report

Brent Larson and Kyle Bronson lead them to the green in the fourth heat of the night. Green, Larson slides across the nose of Bronson in turn 1. That stakes up the field.

Madden has a run on the bottom in turn 3. Madden to the lead! Bloomquist is clicking around the bottom as well.

5 to go, the caution is out for debris in turn 1.

Green, Madden leads into turn 1. They’re 3 wide for 2nd. Bloomquist wins that battle on the top.

Chris Madden wins heat race number four.

Heat 5 – Report

Vic Hill and Jonathan Davenport set the front row in heat five. Green, Davenport is gone at the line. Billy Moyer Jr follows him through. Davenport tags the wall in turn 1 but he holds onto the lead. Davenport’s right rear spoiler is knocked off.

6 to go, Billy Moyer Jr tags the wall from 2nd. Zeigler checks up and Hudson O’Neal throws a slider. From 7th to 3rd for Hudson O’Neal!

3 to go, Moyer Jr tags the wall once more. Move Hudson O’Neal to 2nd!

Jonathan Davenport wins heat race number five. Nick Hoffman takes the final transfer spot on a last lap pass.

Heat 6 – Report

Jackie Boggs and Alex Ferree will lead them to the green flag in heat six. Green, Ferree gets the jump. Boggs clears himself to the wall at the start finish line, across the nose of Owens, light damage for both. Ferree tags the wall hard in turn 1. He bounces off the wall and continues!

Jonathan Rowan gets stacked up in turn 3. He’s tore up on the front and rear. The caution is out.

Green, Ferree leads at the line. Boggs throws a slider in turn 1. Ferree tags the wall once more then he tries to cross under Boggs. Boggs pinches him into turn 3. Boggs takes the lead!

6 to go, Aaron Ridley jumped the cushion and tagged the wall in turn 1. He’s slow on the track and the caution is out.

Green, Boggs leads into turn 1. Ferree cuts it to the bottom in turn 1. Heckenast Jr has a run on the top off turn 2. Ferree slides in front of him. Heckenast Jr clips his right rear and Ferree is around. Caution.

Green, Boggs leads into turn 1. Owens slides Manville for 2nd. Ferree is around. he tagged the wall hard in turn 1, it looped him around.

Green, Boggs leads into turn 1. Owens had a run but lane choice of Boggs forces Owens on the brake peddle. Owens tags the wall as Boggs opens the gap. Boggs drives to the win in heat race six.

Heat 7 – Report

Devin Gilpin and Austin Smith line up first. Green, Gilpin gets the jump on the bottom, he leads into turn 1 as Earl Pearson Jr jacks it sideways to avoid the wall. Caution for debris.

Green, Gilpin checks out as they race for 2nd. Pierce slides for 2nd, Marlar follows.

Pierce mounts a charge for the leader. He runs him down. Two to go, Pierce takes a shot at the lead. Gilpin holds him off to win the seventh heat of the night.

Heat 8 – Report

Jared Landers and Brandon Overton lead them to the green. Landers spins the tires, they split him at the line. Overton and Moyer head side by side into turn 1. Billy Moyer hits a rut in turn 1, that jacks him up the hill. Overton is clicking around the top, Moyer parks directly in front of him. Overton is going off on the hook. Big damage for Moyer, but he’s still on the track.

Green, Moyer leads into turn 1. He tags the wall lightly to install some more right rear damage. Flinner clips the wall, he’s around, caution. That’s a big break for Landers who exited the pits a half lap down at the green.

Green, Billy Moyer Jr leads into turn 1. Landers to 3rd in one lap!

B Main 1 – Report

Green, Jeep VanWormer check out into turn 1. He checks out to a nearly 2 second lead over Vic Hill in no time.

3 to go, the caution is out. Spin in turn 4.

Green, VanWormer check out. 1 to go, Hill tags the wall in turn 1. Several cars lip by as Hill falls outside of a transfer spot on the final lap! Jeep VanWormer jumps B Main 1.

B Main 2 – Report

Green, Kent Robinson leads into turn 1. Chase Jungans gets a run down the back and he completes the pass in turn 3 to take the lead.

3 to go, the yellow is out. Stubber made contact with the wall in turn 1. He coasted to a stop down the back.

Green, Chase Junghans checks out. He drives off to win B Main 2.

Main Event 1 – Report

Shannon Babb and Josh Richards will lead them to the green in the first main event of the day. Green, Davenport and O’Neal split the front row at the line! Davenport leads on the top into turn 1!

Lap 5, Davenport leads Don O’Neal by 10 car lengths. Both drivers are glued to the what’s left of the cushion.

16 to go, Davenport works lapped traffic as O’Neal closes. O’Neal looks low in turn 3, he can’t get the power down in the slick.

10 to go, the caution is out.

Green, Davenport bounces it off the wall on the launch. He’s trying to run as high as possible to get the little moisture that’s left . It works, Davenport leads into turn 1.

5 to go, Davenport leads by 2 seconds. Don O’Neal, Richards and Babb battle for 2nd.

Main Event 2 – Report

Scott Bloomquist and Chris Madden will set the front row in the second feature of the makeup event. Green, side by side into turn 1. Bloomquist noses ahead on the entry but Madden powers by on the outside.

Lap 3, Jackie Boggs is in the wall off turn 4.

Green, Madden leads into turn 1. Lanigan finds the cushion as Bloomquist runs the middle. Lanigan closes 4 car lengths and drives around Bloomquist on the outside to take over 2nd.

17 to go, the caution is back out. Debris in turn two.

Green, Madden leads Lanigan into turn 1.

15 to go, Adam Bowman and Duane Chamberlain are torn up in turn 1. The caution is out.

Green, Madden leads but Jared Landers is coming! Landers is glued to the cushion. He’s forcing his nose to the outside of drivers as he gets a huge run off the corner.

9 to go, Madden is in the wall in turn 1. He bounces off it and continues.

4 to go, Madden is hard in the wall again! The nose has rolled under the right front. Madden’s car won’t turn. Lanigan run right into the back of him as Madden couldn’t get off the corner. The caution is out as Madden heads for the pits.

Green, Lanigan leads into turn 1. Jimmy Owens takes 2nd off turn 2.

Jimmy Owens holds within a car length of the leader. But, Lanigan holds on to take the win at Eldora Speedway! That’s his first feature win of the season.

They will rack ’em again tonight. Resetting the field for two $10,000 to win main events.
