The Dream race results from Eldora Speedway on June 9th, 2018

Tonight, it’s the final night of the Dirt Late Model Dream. The winner of tonight’s main event will take home a check for $100,000. Weather has been in the area all weekend. Last night, they were racing until 2:30AM. Today, 40mph winds and heavy rain rolled in. But, the track is ready and we’re going racing!

Last night, Scott Bloomquist fell off a ladder and ended up in the emergency room. He missed the Friday night race. Tonight, he’s back! The defending race winner sits at the top of hot laps with the session halfway complete. Jason Jameson knocks him off the top spot late, Jameson wins hot laps.

Heat 1 – Report

Michael Page and Frank Heckenast Jr will lead the field to the start of the first heat race of the night. Green, slow start for Page, he’s 4th at the start finish line. False start, Heckenast is sentback a row. Green, Page leads into turn 1. Josh Richards sits in his tire tracks.

Lap 2, Josh Richards drives it to the bottom in turn 3. Page gets sideways at the top. Richards clears him by an inch off turn 4, new leader. Matt Miller and Frank Heckenast Jr raced side by side. Heckenast Jr pinched the straight-away, Miller expected him to drift higher toward the wall. Miller doors Heckenast and Miller is around.

Green, Earl Pearson Jr looks to the outside of Page in turn 1. He has a fender on him, Page leaves him room. Page throws a slider in turn 3, Pearson crosses him off turn four and completes the pass in turn 1, move Pearson to 2nd.

2 to go, Pearson is running down Josh Richards. 1 to go, Steve Casebolt is slow on track with a flat tire, the caution is out.

Green, Richards gets the jump. He opens a gap of 5 car lengths on Pearson. Josh Richards wins the first heat race of the night at Eldora Speedway.

Heat 2 – Report

Brent Larson and Mike Marlar trail the pace truck ahead of heat race number two. Green, Larson gets the jump. Marlar looks low in turn 1, Larson holds it off turn 2. Marlar slides him and takes the position, new leader.

7 to go, Davenport is charging through the field. He’s up to 4th with Shannon Babb just ahead. Davenport looks low in turn 1, Babb holds the position on the high side. Babb drops lower in turn 3 to block a move.

Babb cooks turn 3, Davenport pulls low. They run side by side again in turn 1. Davenport completes the pass back in turn 3.

Mike Marlar wins the second heat race in the 2018 Dirt Late Model Dream.

Heat 3 – Report

Chris Simpson and Dennis Erb Jr set the front row in heat race number three. Scott Bloomquist will start at the tail of the field. Green, Clanton splits them into turn 1. Clanton is looking for the lead off turn 2. Clanton to the lead in turn 3. Lap 2, Bloomquist is up to 6th from 13th!

The top 5 have spread out. Clanton leads by 10 car lengths.

4 to go, Bloomquist is under Owens for 4th. Madden slips, Bloomquist is 3rd at the line! Bloomquist is trapped behind Owens, Madden drives by them both. Bloomquist takes 3rd from Erb. Bloomquist is in a transfer spot!

Shane Clanton wins the third heat of the night.

Heat 4 – Report

Kent Robinson and Jimmy Mars lead them to the green flag in heat race number four. Green, Robinson to the bottom in turn 1. Mars jumps of the throttle and the car jumps off the bars for a quick second, he nearly loses the position but he back in the gas quickly. Mars holds the position off turn 2.

The caution is out early. Green, Mars leads. Robinson runs wide off turn 4, Don O’Neal and Dale McDowell slip under him.

2 to go, O’Neal has run down Owens. He’s within 3 car lenths. Not enough, Mars holds on to win heat race number four.

Heat 5 – Report

Shanon Buckingham and Jon Henry head out onto the race track for heat race number five. This is the race for outside pole. Green, they head side by side into turn 1. Henry leads off turn 2. Jason  Jameson works the top to move around Buckingham for 2nd. The caution is out.

Green, Jameson drives it deep into turn 1. He’s not clear of the nose of Henry but he clears himself. Henry pumps the brakes and falls under fire from Tim McCreadie.

6 to go, the caution is ok and Jackie Boggs heads for the infield.

Green, McCreadie can’t get the power down into the banking of turn 1. Buckingham drives under him to take the position. Caution, big damage for Timothy Culp. He ran out of track off turn 4.

Green, they’re 3 wide for 3rd. McCreadie has the position off turn 2. Shanon Buckingham has gathered it up, he’s found speed on the cushion. Buckingham is back around McCreadie.

Trouble in turn 1! Jeep VanWormer climbs the wall. He bounces off the wall. Kyle Bronson and Jason Feger slide into the scene with nowhere to go. All three cars are done.

Green, Henry gives it a shot in turn 1. He misses, Henry runs wide and jumps the cushion off turn 2. They all drive by as Henry spins the tires. 1 to go, Joey Moriarty has moved into 3rd, Buckingham to 4th, Buckingham is on the gas in turn 4. He’s got a run, Moriarty leaves him room on the outside. It’s a race to the line! Buckingham takes the final transfer spot by .006!

Jason Jameson took the win.

Heat 6 – Report

Darrell Lanigan and Tim Manville lead the field to the start in the final heat race of the weekend. The winner will start on the pole in the main event. Green, Jared Landers splits them. Lanigan is tight into turn 1, he jumps off the throttle and forces it to turn.

Bobby Pierce jumped up the hill in turn 4. I think he hit a bump. He stuffed Satterlee in the wall. The caution is out.

Green, Lanigan leads. 10 to go, 3 cars under a blanet for the win. Landers looks for the lead, he loses ground. Pierce is all over Landers for 2nd. Pierce takes it on the bottom.

2 to go, Lanigan has caught lapped traffic. He’s trying to control the pace but Pierce is closing quick. Pierce is there off the final corner, bumper to bumper but Lanigan takes the win! Darrell Lanigan will start on the pole in the Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora.

B Main 1 – Report

Casey Noonan and Rod Conley set the front row in the first B Main of the night. Green, Noonan gets the launch. He’s clear of Conley before the start finish line. Caution.

Green, They’re 3 wide at the line! Dennis Erb Jr slips to the lead from 3rd in one corner. Noonan has fallen to 5th, they take the top 4.

13 to go, Moyer has a flat tire.

Green, Chris Simpson blips the throttle in turn 1. Hudson O’Neal runs the middle, 3 wide for 2nd. Hudson O’Neal takes the position. O’Neal slips, Rod Conley takes it. The leader is on fire! The race leader is done, the caution is out.

Green, Conley leads into turn 1.

2 to go, the caution is out. Flinner is in the wall off turn 4.

Green, Simpson is on the gas on the top shelf. He gets to the right rear of Conley off turn 2, Simpson to the lead. Michael Page and Brandon Sheppard bang doors off turn 2 for the final transfer spot. Sheppard scrapes the wall down the back stretch. Simpson wins, Michael Page gets the final transfer position! Sheppard does not qualify for the Dirt Late Model Dream.

B Main 2 – Report

Kent Robinson and Joey Moriarty set the front row in the final chance to qualify for the big show. Green, Robinson leads into turn 1. Zeigler works around Moriarty for 2nd. Zeigler has found speed on the bottom of the race track.

13 to go, Zeigler and Robinson run side by side for the lead. Zeigler slids him off turn 4 and tacks the top spit. Nick Hoffman started at the back, He just slid Moriarty for the final transfer spot.

4 to go, Hoffman slips and Billy Moyer Jr closes in the battle for the final transfer position. Caution, Jon Henry is around down the back.

Green, Billy Moyer Jr is in the wall in turn 1. Caution. Green, 4 wide off turn 2 for the final transfer spot! Hoffman falls to 6th. Hoffman doors Bruening in turn 1 on the final lap! Bruening doors him back! Gilpin is looking under both of them off the final corner. 3 car race to the line, Hoffman takes the final transfer spot!

Mason Zeigler win the race.

Bruening runs into the rear bumper of Hoffman on the cool down lap. He then swipes him down the back. Bruening pulls to the pit area of Hoffman to flip off the driver before driving back to his stall.

The Dream – Report

Darrell Lanigan and Jason Jameson will lead the field to the green flag. This is the very first start in The Dream for Jameson, he’ll do it from the front row. 4 wide salute, fireworks and we’re ready to go racing for 100 laps and $100,000 at Eldora Speedway.

Green flag, Jameson leads from the outside in turn 1. Shane Clanton is on a mission. He splits Mars and Lanigan to take over 2nd. Mars dives to the bottom, Clanton steps on the gas on the top to try and hold the position, he pushes on the exit and has to lift to avoid the wall. Davenport is around hi for 3rd.

92 to go, Mars and Davenport are running down Jameson. The caution is out for Jared Landers. Fluid is leaking out of the back of his machine.

Green, Jameson leads into turn 1. Jonathan Davenport is on the gas around the top, he’s around Mars and up to 2nd. Davenport to the bottom in turn 3 for the lead. They run side by side at the line. Jameson fights him back in turn 1, Davenport holds him off, new leader.

86 to go, Scott Bloomquist from 15th to 5th in just 14 laps. The yellow is out or debris.

Green, Bloomquist splits Madden and Jameson to take over 3rd. Davenport leads, Mars 2nd.

80 to go, Bloomquist clears Mars in turn 3. He sets sights on the leader of Davenport. The #49 runs the cushion and the #0 runs the bottom. Bloomquist has a look, Davenport drops to the bottom in the next corner. The leaders race nose to tail through lap traffic.

71 to go, Davenport struggles to work around Hudson O’Neal. He’s clear on the top, Bloomquist cuts to the bottom. They run side by side at the line, Davenport by a nose. He holds him off in turn 1.

67 to go, Chriss Madden is slow down the back from 3rd place. Flat right rear tire for the #44 and the caution is back out. Madden, Clanton and Pearson Jr to the pits.

Green, Davenport leads. They run 4 wide into turn 1 for 3rd.

65 to go, Bloomquist low, Davenport high. Bloomquist leads by a few inches. The leaders continue to run side by side! No sliders, just side by side racing. 61 to go, Bloomquist is clear! The caution is out! Hudson O’Neal is stopped in turn 1. Pearson and Marlar hit the pit lane.

Green, Bloomquist leads by 4 car lengths into turn 1. mars fights Davenport for 2nd as Bloomquist pulls away.

51 to go, Kent Robinson is slow with a flat right front. The caution is back out. Lanigan and Marlar hit the pit lane. Shock change for Marlar and a new right rear for Lanigan.

Green, Bloomquist leads. 4 wide for 3rd. Mars wins the battle for 3rd and looks low on Davenport for 2nd. Mars nearly clears him but Davenport holds the position. It takes a few laps for Davenport’s car to fire. Chris Madden is back up to 7th, he was in the pits a few laps ago. Madden is the fastest car in the field. McDowell runs 3rd from 16th.

43 to go, Jameson and Chilton are slow on the track. They both head for the pits as the caution is out. Another shock change for Marlar.

Green, Bloomquist leads by 2 car lengths into turn 1. Marlar is around in turn 2, the caution is out.

Green, Bloomquist leads. Madden is under McDowell in a battle for 3rd. McDowell fights back and holds the position.

40 to go, the caution is out for Nick Hoffman who spun in turn 1. He’ll go off on the hook. Don O’Neal hits the pits for a new right rear and left rear.

Green, Bloomquist wins the race off turn 2. 3 wide for 2nd off turn 4, Davenport holds it. Madden’s lap times have dropped off. He was the fastest car on the track for a large portion of this race.

30 to go, Bloomquist leads by 3 seconds. Bloomquist works lap traffic. Davenport and McDowell run side by side and they’re catching the leader at .3 seconds per lap. Davenport is glued to the outside wall. Bloomquist continues to run the bottom.

20 to go, Davenport is closing as Bloomquist struggles to lap Zeigler. The delta is just 2 seconds. Bloomquist splits the lappers! Bloomquist opens the gap back up and Davenport slaps the outside wall.

8 to go, Bloomquist leads McDowell by 6 seconds. Bloomquist just lapped Don O’Neal. 8 cars on the lead lap.
