After breaking his own helmet, Legends driver then tosses it at competitor (Video)

Johnny Sossoman vs Robby Faggart at Charlotte Motor Speedway

The 25th annual Summer Shootout brought a thriller in the Masters division feature. The incident took place at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the infield bullring.

With just 10 laps to go, the field restarted. Robby Faggart launched from the outside front row. The outside is at a deficit on the flat oval.

Johnny Sossoman looked to the inside from row two into turn 1. They raced side by side for the runner-up position.

Out of turn 2, it all went wrong. Sossoman pinched up the banking with Faggart to his outside down the back straight. Sossoman continued up the track until Faggart was 5 inches from the outside wall.

They made contact. Faggart got sideways and made light contact with the outside wall. He jacked the car to the left, avoiding the wall. Though, he clipped Sossoman in the right rear.

Faggart continued as Sossoman looped his car heading back into turn 1. As soon as the car came to a stop, Sossoman opened the door to the Legend machine. Despite virtually no damage to his machine, he’s not happy.

Sossoman unhooked and tossed the steering wheel from the cockpit. He climbs from the car, removes his gloves and tosses those on the race track. But, he’s far from done.

Sossoman then unstrapped his helmet. He slams that on the race track as well. The helmet shield smashes and breaks on the pavement. He kicks the helmet once more.

He then picks up his helmet and selects that as his weapon device. He waited impatiently for Faggart to circle back around under caution.

However, while looking for the car that offended him, he missed him. Faggart already rolled by. Sossoman isn’t happy that he missed his opportunity. He turns around, darts for the #14 and tosses his helmet with the hans device still attached at the back of his machine.

It was a very expensive burst of anger. Sossoman went on to be credited with last place of the 11 cars in the field. Faggart completed the remaining 10 laps of the event and finished in 7th.
