B Main 1 – Report

Shannon Babb and Tyler Bruening set row 1 in the first B main of the night at I-80 Speedway. Green flag, Bruening leads with Babb slotting in behind him.

Lap 5, Bruening, Babb and Richards run nose to tail through the center of the tacky track. They have reached the tail of the field and will race through the lap cars.

Lap 7, Richards and Bruening are all tore up in turn 1. Bruening made contact with a lap car and Richards was collected. The red flag is out. Both cars get towed back to the pit area.

Green, Babb leads Lanigan into turn 1. Caution. Green, Babb gets the jump once more. He drives away.

Babb wins the first B main of the night!

B Main 2 – Report

Jason O’Brien and Tim McCreadie will lead them to the start in B main number two. Green, O’Brien gets the jump.

Pierce runs four wide through turn 1 as Chris Simpson gets sideways on the bottom. They were already 3 wide before they had to find a way by Simpson.

Lap 8, John Anderson has lost a right rear tire off turn two. The caution is out.

Green, O’Brien leads. Scott Ward and Dave Eckirch split McCreadie off turn 2. McCreadie falls to 5th as Simpson gets by as well.

Jason O’Brien cruises to the win in B main number two.

LCQ – Report

The top 3 finishers in this race have the option to start at the tail of the main event. Tim McCreadie and Justin Zeitner lead them to the green.

Green, Zeitner slides McCreadie in turn 1. McCreadie has to get out of the gas or get put in the wall. Another cars looks to the inside of McCreadie, he’s back on the gas and holds the position on the outside.

McCreadie charges to the rear bumper of Zeitner into turn 3. He’s got a run off turn 4. McCreadie slides Zeitner back in turn 1. He’s clear.

McCreadie drives off the win. The top 3 finishers could take the cash from their result or start at the tail. All 3 elect to start at the tail of the Silver Dollar Nationals field.

Main Event – Report

Two time race winner, Scott Bloomquist takes the pole for the 80 lap main event. The rookie driver, Mason Zeigler will start alongside.

Josh Richards has moved to a backup car. They unloaded that and dropped a different motor in it. The new combination was fired up for the first time, just a few minutes before the 10 minute warning.

It’s the biggest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race of the year so far. $53,000 will be awarded to tonight’s race winner. 4 wide salute mixed with fireworks for the Nebraska crowd and we’re off.

Green flag, Bloomquist noses ahead into turn 1. Zeigler hangs on his right rear on the entry. Bloomquist is clear off turn 2.

Lap 3, caution. Eckrich stopped on the back. Richards and Babb to the pit area.

Green, Bloomquist leads. Zeigler holds 2nd.

Lap 8, Dennis Erb Jr and Brandon Sheppard tangle into turn 1. Both cars are torn up. Sheppard has to get a push to the pits.

Green, Bloomquist leads. Davenport is looking for a way by Zeigler on the outside. It doesn’t work he drops in behind Zeigler. Richards is flying through the field.

Lap 12, Zeigler is up in smoke. The caution is back out.

Green, Bloomquist leads Davenport. Lanigan and McCreadie fight for space into turn 1. McCreadie didn’t know he was on the inside.

Lap 15, Weiss looks to the outside of Davenport into turn 1. He’s got him. Weiss to 2nd. He catching Bloomquist quick.

Weiss to the outside of Bloomquist they run side by side with lap traffic ahead.

Lap 20, Bloomquist is running Weiss back down. He drives to the inside, clear. Bloomquist back to the front.

Lap 32, Bobby Pierce is flying he’s up to 2nd from outside the top 20. He’s rolling the cushion. And he’s the only car up there. He’s the fastest car on the track. Catching Bloomquist in a hurry.

Lap 41, Pierce is there! Bloomquist cuts to the bottom in turn 1. Pierce stays on the gas, catches the cushion and drives by on the outside.

Lap 44, Bloomquist runs him back down. He takes the lead right back through the middle.

Lap 46, Pierce is making another run to the front. The lap car of Bronson slides up the track and catches the cushion directly ahead of Pierce. The #32 crosses him on the exit if turn 2 and continues the race for the lead.

Pierce is there, clear.

Lap 67, Pierce leads Bloomquist by 10 seconds. But, the caution is out. Bronson got into the wall, bringing out the yellow. 9 cars are on the lead lap as Pearson gets the wave around.

Green, Pierce to the bottom, Bloomquist to the bottom and Weiss to the middle. Weiss takes over 2nd.

Bloomquist falls to 4th. Davenport is looking for a way around Weiss.

5 to go, Pierce is smoking! He’s still going but he’s down on power. Davenport closes quickly.

3 to go, Davenport slides Pierce in turn 1. He nearly clips the wall as he catches what’s left of the cushion.

2 to go, the yellow is back out. Pierce’s engine has expired. Bloomquist heads to the pit area.

Green, Davenport leads Weiss. He’s gone!
