Final Practice
Pocono Raceway
It’s a brief 50 minute session for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at Pocono Raceway.
Some teams are electing to roll through inspection before practice. That’s not a requirement but they’re missing a lot of track time to do so. 15 minutes into the session, Joey Logano still sits in the inspection line.
20 minutes into the session, Joey Logano is on the race track. He’s also jumped to the top of the board. For the first time today, Kevin Harick isn’t at the top of the board.
It’s a 51.029 for Logano and a 51.039 for Harvick. However, Harvick still leads in the 10 lap averages.
“I’m not saying you’re slow. But, you’re not as fast as you think you are,” Keselowski crew radio as the team compares long run speed to Kevin Harvick.
30 seconds remain in final practice. Kyle Larson is spinning out of turn 1. He downshifted out of the corner, that’s later than normal.
As Larson got back to the throttle the rear end stepped out. Larson stepped on the gas to keep it out of the outside wall. However, he spun to the inside of the track and made light contact with the left front. Flat tires and light body damage is the end result.
Joey Logano brings a halt to the Harvick sweep. Logano wins final practice at Pocono raceway. View the full Pocono practice results sheet below.
