Ford made their motorsport debut in 1964. The manufacture won the 4,000 mile Tour de France Automobile. It was a 10-day rally race. Ford then transformed to SCCA TransAm, IMSA, NHRA, Formula Drift and then the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

“Ever since we announced in April that Mustang would be going to the Cup level in 2019, we’ve heard nothing but positive feedback,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance Motorsports.

“Our Ford Performance team has worked hard with the Ford Design team to create a Mustang that will be competitive on the track while remaining true to its proud heritage. We can’t wait to see it winning races in the NASCAR Cup Series next year,” Rushbrook concluded.

The NASCAR Ford Mustang closely resembles the street version of the same car. The days of shaving off the edges in the design are gone. The edges are back in NASCAR.

Currently, there are 13 Ford drivers in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. All of those drivers made an appearance for the 2019 NASCAR Mustang release. The new race car made it’s debut at Ford’s World Headquarters.
