It’s a 50 minute practice session at Michigan International Speedway. This is the only practice ahead of qualifying. Most teams will spend this session making qualifying runs.
William Byron isn’t wasting any time, he’s the first car to the track.
30 minutes remain in the session. Kurt Busch is having issues with his brake pedal. Busch stated the pedal is going soft.
Kyle Busch sits 19th on the board. However, he had a flat tire during his first run.
10 minutes remain, Joe Gibbs Racing holds three of the top five positions. Denny Hamlin leads the field with a 35.709. Kyle Busch has just jumped into the top five.
5 minutes remain, Kurt Busch is here to spoil the Joe Gibbs Racing party. He leads the times sheet.
It’s short lived, Denny Hamlin jumps back to the top.
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will return to the track later this afternoon. Qualifying is scheduled for 5:05pm ET.
