It’s an hour and ten minute session at Bristol. Toward the end of this session, most teams will spend some time running short runs in qualifying trim.

Ryan Blaney had a strategy in the opening round of practice. He stated that due to the limited amount of tires in relation to the amount of practice time, he avoid the bottom. In his mind, the trackbite eats through the tires.

Halfway in final practice, Denny Hamlin sits at the top of the board. He turned a 15.348.

40 minutes remain, Bubba Wallace has scrapped the wall off turn 4. He got up in the marbles while testing the high side. Very light damage on the #43.

30 minutes remain, Kyle Larson currently leads in 10-lap averages. Activity is busy on pit lane, lots of teams are swapping over to qualifying setups. The speeds are set to drop in a hurry.

20 minutes remain, Larson is still out there in a long run. His focus is on the race. He jumps over the rubber and into the marbles. Larson slides off turn 4 but keeps it out of the wall. He’s still going.

Meanwhile, Kevin Hafvick jumps to the top of the board. He turned a 15.239. That’s more than a tenth quicker than Hamlin’s time.

10 minutes remaining, Kyle Busch now leads in 10-lap averages. Ricky Stenhouse Jr has the quickest time overall. Stenhouse has the best average finish at Bristol Motor Speedway of all active drivers. He’s held that stat for the last several seasons.

2 minites remain, Hamlin is set to make a qualifying run. However, he and Bowyer both drop to the bottom at the start of his second lap. Hamlin doesn’t get to test his qualifying time as he’s held up by Bowyer.

At the last minute, Kyle Busch jumps to the top of the board. He wins final practice at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Bristol qualifying will get underway in a few hours. That will set the grid for the Saturday night race.
