Qualifying – Report

Scott Bloomquist is quickest overall.

Heat 1 (A) – Report

Jeremiah Hurst and Jesse Stovall set the front row in heat race number one. Green, they run even into turn one. Hurst noses ahead on the bottom. Stovall gets the power down around the top. They run even off turn two. Stovall takes the lead into turn three.

Stovall is driving away.

Lap 7, Hurst is smoking. It goes away on the straights. It’s likely a tire rub. But, Zeigler and McCreadie are closing on him.

Final lap, Stovall is gone. Hurst is smoking worse and they’re all over him for 2nd. He makes it across the line, holding 2nd.

Stovall wins the first heat race of the Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals!

Heat 2 (A) – Report

Jimmy Mars and Chase Junghans trail the pace truck ahead of heat race number two. Green, Mars is on the gas early. Too early, false jump.

Green, they’re even at the line and even into turn one. Junghans powers to the lead on the outside of turn two.

Mars runs the bottom. He pulls to the inside in turn three. Mars gets him into turn 1. Junghans is under pressure from Billy Moyer.

Lap 7, Junghans slips off the bottom in turn one. Moyer drives right by and begins running down the leader.

Lap 9, Moyer is slow off turn four! The caution is out. O’Neal takes over 3rd, he started in 8th.

Green, Mars leads. O’Neal slips off the bottom in turn one, he falls to 4th.

Final lap, Mars is slow! He dropping quick. Chase Junghans takes the lead and the win!

Heat 3 (A) – Report

Dave Eckrich and Austin Rettig will lead them to the starting line for heat three. Green, Rettig is on the brakes hard to catch the cushion in turn one. Eckrich is clear on the bottom.

Lap 2, Rettig missed the bottom. He slides up the hill as a car jumps over his nose. The caution is out.

Green, Eckrich leads. Pearson is burried in the field but they run side by side in front if him. As they single out, Pearson drives by.

Lap 9, Pearson is all over Heckenast Jr for 2nd. He drives by on the outside but Hecknast fights back. Heckenast retakes the position. Pearson pulls even once more. Heckenast holds him off.

Eckrich wins the final heat in group A!

Heat 1 (B) – Report

Rob Toland and Mike Fryer line up on the front row for heat one in group B. Green, Toland leads on the bottom. Fryer is on his back bumper. Fryer slips as the quick time cars are racing through the field.

Pierce works the top. He moves to the bottom and takes the lead off turn two.

Lap 9, Bloomquist runs 3rd. He started on the second to last row. Bloomquist is around for 2nd.

He’s going to run out of time. Pierce takes the win in the first heat for group B!

Heat 2 (B) – Report

Gregg Satterlee and Jay Johnson set row one for heat two. Green, Satterlee leads on the bottom. Birkhofer takes 2nd.

Lap 2, Birkhofer looks low on Satterlee into turn one. He clear him off turn two.

Lap 8, Clanton is coming in a hurry with Owens on his trail. They’re both all over Satterlee for 2nd.

Lap 10, Clanton is around Satterlee on the outside. Owens follows him through. Satterlee falls outside a transfer position.

Brian Birkhofer cruises to the win in heat two of group B.

Heat 3 (B) – Report

Morgan Bagley and Jared Landers line up first in the final heat race of the night. Green, Landers leads by several car lengths into turn 1.

Davenport is looking low on Bagley for 2nd. Bagley shuts the door. Davenport moves to the top. He clears him off turn four and begins running down Landers.

Lap 6, Landers and Davenport both run the cushion. Davenport is closing. He climbs to within 5 car lengths. Davenport drops to the bottom. That didn’t work, he lost ground. Back to the top.

Landers takes the win in the final heat race of the night!

Main Event – Report

Mason Zeigler and Tyler Erb trail the pace truck ahead of the 25 lap main event. 4 wide salute and we’re off. The race winner will pocket $7,000 and the all-important points for the weekend.

Green flag, they run even into turn one. Zeigler noses ahead on the bottom. Zeigler is clear off turn two.

Simpson and Erb fight for space off turn four. Simpson take the position.

Lap 3, Simpson has caught the leader. He’s got a run off turn two. Zeigler shuts the door. Simpson takes it to the top in turn three. He’s clear by three car lengths in turn four.

Slow car in turn two. The caution is out. They’ll revert to the last lap.

Green, Zeigler leads. Simpson is on his bumper and running the middle of the track. Tyler Erb slips by on the bottom.

Lap 8, Simpson is fading. The split him high and low. Smoker on the front, the caution is back out. Simpson will get those spots back.

Green, Zeigler leads. Tyler Erb runs 2nd. He makes a run at him on the bottom. Zeigler holds him off.

Lap 16, Tyler Erb is closing quick. Erb cuts to the bottom in turn three. He clears him off turn four as Zeigler has to check up. Simpson takes 2nd.

Lap 18, The caution is out.

Green, Simpson and Erb run side by side through turn 1. Shane Clanton jumps the cushion. Clanton loses a ton of positions. Erb clears Simpson.
